Hello, I finally got my reciever delivered today and for the first time was able to hook things up and actually see something move. The servo's were moving and I accidenty had throttle half way not realizing I had the ESC switch turned on. The main rotor blades started twirling like a blender, scared the hell out of me.. Fortunately, I don't have the main blades on right now. Then, I switched to the channels for L/R cyclic and F/A servo's. I adjusted them at the proper angles suggested. However, after I connected the gyro to the channel and continued trying to make adjustments, the whole time I kept getting an alarm coming from the reciever and I no longer could get the throttle to turn the main shaft. I have noticed that with the seperates I have, the Corona assembly guide doesn't always apply. I did take note that the RD8000 radio that I have shows a diagram of the gryo wire going to one channel and the tail servo going to another. But the Corona directions show to connect the tail servo to the gyro and run them together in the gyro channel. Is this the problem? Any suggestions? I'm running with the new slim "Z" Airtronics reciever, Hacker motor and controller with the Futaba GY240. I have made virtually no computer adjustments on the radio other than a few simple things and I have it in "normal" mode and on PPM. Please help me if you can, thanks, Steve.

The tail servo plugs into the gyro, which plugs into the rxr. I set my 240 at 40% gain.

If you turn on the rxr/ESC with the transmitter throttle above "zero", the hacker controller will go into program mode. It should not have started the motor this way. The hacker manual says how to program it. You will definitely want the break turned off.

Hope this helps.

Hey playfair, thanks for the info. I'm getting ready to give this another try. I forgot about the brake like you mentioned. So, I went back and found the Hacker manual and went thru the adjustments. It looked like I had already turned the brake off. I've played around with the radio for no reason, before I had everything I needed to fly. Maybe I will reset to default and start all over. I did read that there are several alarms that could sound for a variety of reasons. I'm thinking the dual-rate alarm may be why. Thanks, I'm gonna see if I can solve this today, later.

Problem solved--another question please

Hi, I was half asleep yesterday and had the throttle plugged into the wrong channel. There is no alarm sounding now, and it appears ok. Playfair, you mentioned that you have your GY240 at 40%. Most people suggest 75%. Is this because it's the Hacker motor & ESC, or personal preference? Also, should I set the gyro setting on the radio at 40% to match it up? Thanks for your help, Steve.

I would start with the gyro gain at around 50%. If the tail wags constantly, decrease it. If it doesn't wag keep increasing it until it starts to wag and then back it off a smidge.

For all practical purposes, if the tail wags the gain is too high. If the tail coasts after a yaw change, the gain is too low.

I'm not familiar with the RD8000 but the gain setting in the radio won't have any affect on the GY240 so I think you can just ignore it. Just make sure that any REVO mixing in your tx is turned off or inhibited.

Good luck!

Thanks playfair & Lance for the info. I did need the gyro info. explained to me (I'm bad about losing directions after I buy something). Even though I really like the RD8000 I bought, I think I could have recieved more input if I'd got a Futaba, more widely used. But, I'm gonna learn it sooner or later I suppose. Lance, I really appreciate all the valuable info you've givin during my assembly. Oh yea, a while back when I bought the battery packs from Battlepack.com, the owner asked me who referred me--told him you--he said to to tell you hi and that he appreciated it, later, Steve.
