I’ve got a problem with my Kontronik BEAT 40-6-12 in my Logo10
I’ts not arming anymore but I haven’t changed anything on my transmitter. I’ts just flashing 9 times.
I’m flying with a Hacker C50 13L and a 4s4p TP Lipo pack.
A couple of days before, I had no problem flying it with the same pack. Is this just over voltage from the fresh charged Lipo pack?

Somebody got a clue?

9 flashes is OVERVOLTAGE - it's not documented anywhere but I called Kontroniks and the tech told me what 999 meant. I don't think the 40-6-12 is a good choice for 4S Lipos - Get a Schultze - BTW, they don't even make the Beat 40-6-12 anymore, at least for NA sales - It would not even start with 12 fully charged NiCads - you had to drain them down a bit first.

I was afraid of that.
You’re right I’ve had that problem before with a fresh charged 12 cell Nicad.
What kind of controller do you recommend for my setup? You are talking about a schulze. What kind of type? (don't need BEC, got a Ubec for that). The schulze's are a bit expensive

Maybe I can exchange it with Kontronik for a bigger one. I should at least expect it can handle 12 cell nicad with it

Anyway, thanks for your reply Raytor.

The bigger kontronik here in US is the Jazz 40-6-18 which is what you need with those Lipos but it costs just about the same as the Schulze Fut 18-46K (make sure you get the "k' model) or the Hacker 48-3pho both of which I have and like. The fact that Knotronik wouldn't handle it's cell ratings turned me off the them.

On a similar theme does anyone know if a Kontronik Smile 50-6-18 will work with a 6s2p LiPo pack?
NiCad: 18 * 1.2 = 21.6V
LiPo: 6 * 3.7 = 22.2V
So it's close.

Also I've read on the German Kontronik website that the Smile range of ESCs can be upgraded to include a 'LiPo mode', does anyone know what this does???

Cheers

Davo.

Hmmm. For the controller to initialize it has do deal with these voltages:

18 NiCds peak at close to 1.5V/Cell, 1.5 X 18 = 27V
6s LiPos maximum voltage is 4.2V/Cell, 4.2 X 6 = 25.2V

So far so good.

Don't know what the "LiPo mode" is, but if the controller has a BEC it could be a programmable cutoff suitable for LiPos.
