How good will the Razor V2 perform in a Zoom 400?
Does it have enough power?

Oh great! What ESC did you choose? P10?

Keep us posted on your progress.

Phoenix 25 - has a few small extras over the 10 I think?
But anyway - can always use this one in other projects.

Went for a Futaba GY401 Gyro on the same basis,
also wanted heading hold anyway
and the $ difference between a GY240 and GY401
makes the GY240 a poor choice.

Futaba S3108 servo's except the tail,
HS50 on the tail only to get the fastest possible servo.
In hind sight I don't think the HS50's small advantage
(HS50 = 0.09 S3108 = 0.12) is a big deal,
if you look at the standard issue servo's from Protech
they are slower than the S3108.

Man, the Razor is really small and light - 26 grams,
the HiMax 2025 2700 is 66 grams!

Will post my progress...

I dont think the Razor is going to fly the Zoom,It has a hard time flying the Hornet 2 and it is 200 grams lighter.

The Razor micro heli motor was developed in conjunction with DeeTee for the Hornet - so it should be a good match.

Accept that the Zoom is at the absolute limit of what this motor can handle - probably not good for going 3D

Cheers...

Saw a Hornet 2 with a Razor MicroHeli V2 in the weekend (3S1P Etec LiPoly) - had great vertical performance - best I've ever seen from a H2.

Here is the hornet that we saw.

OzHeli's Hornet

I'm finding out what size pinion - it will either be 10 or 11 T

Cheers

I am still waiting for the main bag of parts to arrive from Tower (Servos, Gyro, etc) - any day now.

I've backed out of running the Razor MicroHeli V2 in the Zoom - 500grams is at the top of what this motor is rated for - have sold the motor to a friend with a Hornet 2 - now going for a Razor 2500.

Going to make the maden flight on the standard motor - compare with friends H2 also on standard motor - then both of us will convert to brushless...

Can't wait....

As per a post from Dennis - the Razor Micro Heli V2 is fine for normal flight and basic moves (loop - etc) but not enough power for hard 3D in the Hornet2 (so definately not enough power for Zoom).

I just ordered a zoom 400 and was planning on using my hacker 20-22 motor on it. Will let you know how it works

People are using the Hacker B20-18L so you're in good company - heaps of power in that motor.

I've switched to a Razor 2500 - will certainly work well but may still be a lacking for 3D work (but my flying skills a quite some way off that in any case :-)

Motor for Hornet 3D

OK... so what motor would have enough power for hard 3D in a Hornet?

Fair question - best to ask in a Hornet forum?

I would imagine a Razor 2500 would be better (than MicroHeli)
and a Hacker B20-18L would be even better again.
The B20 has been describes as having "unlimited vertical"

The HiMax 2025-4200 is another good option
