Sure! 800mm NHP Razor Pro blades from Len Sabato. His dealership used to be called www.rcmodelsports.com, but he has recently changed it to www.rchelisplus.com.

V-Blades also makes 810's but they are a little more expensive than others.

I won't go into the benefits of V-Blades 'cuz most know already, But we do use them exclusively on our Industrial Twins, for the simple fact that they are the best.

Im turning my 710mm .90 helicam into 800mm cause im planning to lift +-1.5kg (+-3pounds) of extra weight with a new film camera, The 90 seems to have plenty of spare power to lift the extra weight but I dont want to lose the auto capability at the same time fly it smoother. I ve just changed for a longer tail boom (cardanic) so I think the 800mm will do better for the overall performance.

SAB make 810mm blades with a relex lifting section in both left and right hand rotation. NHP blades have a symetrical section and may not give you much more lifting ability than you have at the moment.

Have been using SAB 810 on my own camera ship for a couple of months now and they seem to work well.

It's a Vario Benzine based machine (L/H rotation) powered by a Zenoah G230 petrol engine.

I do not know who the US importer of SAB blades is. I bought mine from CyberHeli in Hong Kong but they are quite local for me although I do know that they deliver world wide.

They are marketed as 'industrial' high-lift blades P/N 0231 and cost US$149.00 without shipping. I think the R/H rotation is either 0230 or 0232 if memory serves.

When I was first starting with camera ships, I inquired as to whether to get symmetrical or semi-symmetrical blades.

The general opinion of people here was that although semi blades do generate more lift, in the wind they tend to bob around more, so are not as desirable for taking pictures, and especially not for video.

When I found that out, I stayed with the symmetrical blades, and have never had a problem.

Greg,

I mostly do video and also have never experimented problems related to the simm blades, but since never tried 800mm or 810 it is nice to hear all the bells about the pro and cons. At the same time im adding a GV1 to the setup because after replacing for the long tail boom some major vibration appeared when RPMs go high.
I think Ill take my chances with 800 simm and see what happens.

Make sure with the longer boom you have longer boom supports, and that they are attached to the lowest place on the heli you can so that you will get the best mechanical advantage!

Greg, your response to my posting has got me thinking about my own set up.

I had been running 730mm symetrical Vario blades and found due to the weight of the heli and possibly also due to our hot and humid weather here in Malaysia, I was hovering with approx. +9 deg of pitch. I felt that the rotor disc loading was way too high and was most pleased to discover that switching to the 810 SAB blades together with a main gear ratio change, allowed me to hover at around +6.5 deg.

I have experienced a huge proformance gain with a really out-of-sight climb and so far, the wobbling that you described has not occured but it's early days yet with this set up.

Interesting what you said though. Maybe my performance gain is just down to the increased blade length and has little to do with the section. Will stick with it for now and see how things go.

Let us know what you find out! As I mentioned, that is what I was told here about semi-symmetrical blades, I didn't try them myself after I heard that.

But I've had no problems with the 800mm NHP Razor Pros, so I can't complain!
