Hi,
I wont to get into the profetional arial photography busnes (stil photos and vidio). I wont to here from peaple that have some expiriance in this about there recomendetion on Heli (gas heli), mounding, electronic and cameras combinations that works well together and don't cost more than 10000$.
The equipment I had in mined is the new Voyeger GSR 260 and the Airfoil profetional mount - M1 carbon. What do you think about this equipment?
Thanks allot Eran.

Eran:

Nice setup, but why are you limiting yourself to gas for a new camera heli? At least take a serious look at the big electrics, like the Maxi-Joker with 800mm blades, you will find a lot of people going in that direction now, especially with the big LiPo battery packs now available.

Much quieter, nothing to clean up afterwards, just flip a switch and go!

That Airfoil mount is great, you will be happy with that for both stills and video.

Does the maxi joker only come in electric form then?

How much wieght will it lift?, not as much as a gas heli I would of thought!

Leegolf:

Yes, the Maxi is electric only. They make another version for glo-fuel called the Acrobat, but I'm not familiar with that one.

Their web site says 2kg (4.5 lbs) more - it doesn't say 'more than what', or if just more than the unloaded weight. And add a bit if you go with LiPo batteries, too.

But plenty of oomph to lift whatever DV camera will fit in the Airfoil mount, that's for sure!

And you can't beat it for smoothness!

Hi Greg,
I thoght about the gas heli because of the long flight time, cheep fuel and carying capabilitis. I know that electric have some advantages but the flyight time are shorter and it have limited load capabilitis. Also I'm not familier with the LiPo cells but they sim prity expensive to me. I think that in the aria of profetional photography gas power still have some advantages over the big electrics.
thanks Eran.

Yes, LiPo cells are still pretty expensive, but with them you can get about a 30 minute flight time, so the short-flight-time argument goes out the window. And once you have them, recharging is cheap!

Quiet: Electric wins (very important for professional shoots!)

Less Vibration: Electric wins

Payload: What will you be carrying? Unless you want to lift a 35mm movie camera or huge HiDef rig, spinning 800mm blades on a big electric will lift just about anything you will reasonably want to carry.

For professional photography use: Well, that is what I do, and when I see people with results like Jeff Scholl and Michael Shetler and others here also using them, it is enough to keep me away from gas!

I just want you to think these things through with current info before you make a decision! A year ago I wouldn't have considered an electric for professional use either! Things are changing quickly with the technologies available, before you spend that kind of money make sure you have investigated all the options. Then you will be making an informed decision, no matter which way you go, and won't be kicking yourself in a few months for not having all the facts!

Let us know what you end up with,
Greg
