Engines Plugs Mufflers Fuel > Webra 52 AAR Trouble

Can anyone help in the setting up of the Webra 52 AAr as I am having difficulty in getting it to run. I am using 15% coolpower, Enya NO:3 Plug, with a Weston Pro Genesis tuned pipe.
I am used to reliable O.S.
Regards
Peter

Give Stephen of Cyberheli an email. He's listed here on RunRyder. He fly the Webra engines exclusively.

Hi Pete,

I am in the same boat. Had an OS50 and swapped it for a Webra 52AAR as they use much less fuel. However, after 4 gallons it seems to be getting worse rather than better
I put the OS back in last night and I'm back to my old reliable heli again - even if the flight times are 30% less

Maybe I'll persevere (spelling ?) with the Webra in the Summer, but right now I just want to fly without the hassle of a fiddly motor

Good luck with yours

Pete/Carps

Have you tried contacting Bob Johnston at Skyline ?? He still uses (I think) Webra engines and I am sure that he will help if he can.

Funnily enough...

...I went and saw him today actually.

He had a few ideas, but without seeing it running it's obviously going to be difficult. Did suggest maybe switching from a muffler to a pipe...

Webra Trouble

Thanks for the replys. I Did e-mail Stephen at Cyberheli and after listening to his advice the engine is now running OK although still very rich ( new engine). I suggest that Carps either E-mails me or Cyberheli so I can forward on Cyberheli,s advice.
Thanks for all your help

I spoke with Dave Fisher (of the UK aerobatics team) over the weekend who uses a lot of Webra engines. Showed him the engine and he immediately diagnosed a failure of the pin that holds the piston ring in position and offered to sort the problem out for me with Webra.
He confirmed that I hadn't been doing anything wrong and that the failure of this component had caused my problems.
Apparently he has seen this happen on Webra 52 AARs before.

Fingers crossed I will be getting a replacement engine

Thanks for the offer of advice. I'll mail you for the info so things go smoothly with the repaired or new motor.

Carps.
