How do you tell if your ball links are sized properly ? I have the JR ball link sizing tool. When inserted and rotated it doesn't really seem to do too much but the link does loosen a little. When I try and screw down the adjusting screw on the tool it goes until it is flush with the top of the tool and stops.Should the links be loose enough to wiggle freely without coming detached ?

Thanks everyone

Exactly, you want the links nice and free on the balls.

Volkul taught me a cheap and easy way to size ball links... Without using that overpriced tool you have... He had one and it didnt work very well either... I took a ball and chewed it up a little with a pair of pliers.. put your ball in a pair of vice grips, snap your link on it and spin untill smooth... it should rotate nice and free.. good luck...

What about mounting the ball on a drill or screwgun, snap on the link with rod attached (so you can hold it) and slowly engage the drill at a slow speed. That way you would not have to turn the link hundreds of time by hand.

Ball Link Sizing

I use a cordless drill on high speed. I dont' rough up ball. I just spin for about 30 seconds, works great.Ron

I use the roughened ball method myself. I have mine mounted on an old canopy mount for a handle. It works way better than that overpriced piece of over-engineering.

I just use a lighter for a few seconds. It not only gives it the ideal size and makes deformed links gain its original shape but it also releases any internal stress in the plastic preventing fatigue failures specially on JR grey ball links.

I bought one of those JR ball link sizing tools and it's junk, I modified it and it almost works now but still pretty useless, from what I've been told 1 out of 10 works great. One was enough for me!

Ball Links

Hey guys- thanks for all the feedback on the ball link sizing inquiry. I'll send in a request like this BEFORE I go and buy worthless tools again in the future !!!
