I strapped on the new cam and flew around this morning...

no downlink, no camera man...
just myself and a little Ben Harper...

little wobble from light wind, but still learning...

Looks great fun Jeff,

I love the section at about 1m36 when the camera is tilted down and you fly over the tree top.

Did you adjust manually and take off again, how many packs were used to film it.

Cheers

Jeff

I dig it!

I was wondering since you're running the electric heli and vibration is less of an issue for you than on a gasser... could you just tighten up your mount so it's not really hanging? would that help the wobble or was that just your flying ?

Hi Lee,

I flew one pack of 2600's. I hit the record button before lift off and just played around while adjusting the tilt a couple times.

That's a good idea Ethan, but I think what I'm after
is going to require the K2. I was going to order it up today but John is out until Monday and I have a couple questions.

Cheers,
Jeff

New cam?

Jeff is that the new cam?
Looked nice.

I still think your motion in not from a lack of gyro.
If you watch the video it is only in forward flight and it is an ossiclation.
Have you tried to stiffen up that mount that allows the pod to swing side to side?
I bet if you locked that down or put a heavier shock in there it would take most of that away.
Maybe that is not why you want the gyro, but if you took out the sway I would buy video from the ship.

BTW logged 1.0 today 8 years and I still have the knack. Crosswind landing was almost a greaser.
I think my heli is going to get dusty for a bit....

Headspeed?

Hi Jeff,

Your video is so cool!

You have a really great sense of how to fly the helicopter to give pleasing FF video.

Regarding the oscillation in your video, it reminds me of what I see when I run my Voyager E at a low headspeed.

Not sure if that has been suggested yet.

Neat stuff!

With all that said, I think if Jeff's in the market for the K2 upgrade then that would be the way to go. If he hopes to do a lot of video, the gyro would take a lot of the work out for him

another video from today from a golf course:

Bill,
You were right on the headspeed.
The one I used yesterday won't provide the snap/power unless I peak it before the flight.

Jason,
just like riding a bike I bet...
Back in college I remember watching B-52's crab into the wind all the way to the pavement at the Grand Forks AFB on a typical 35knt direct crosswind day.

Ethan,
Not only am I not a smart man, but I'm also a lazy man
so you hit it on the head ;-)

Jeff,

What kind of electric are you flying. I want to play w/ shooting someday, but want to stay in the electrics. (I still have a loooooooooong way to go) but was curious.

Hey Jeff, Love your videos and aerial Pics. I know we haven't met yet but I would like to invite you over to our Helicopter fun Fly In Helena on June 26 and 27. Most of the guys from HeliProz are coming up and a few others from the area are coming. I am very interested in getting into aerial photography and would like to pick your brain a lot. I understand you have a joker and I'm planning for my next heli to be an electric. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ted,

That weekend I have plans on taking aerial pics for my mom in MN and hitting a FunFly next to Fargo,ND. (Kopters over Kragnes)

However, I'm really bummed that I am going to miss a FunFly in my own state, (or my own time zone for that matter....)

I would be happy to get together another time and show you my set up.

alpha1,
I"m using a box stock Joker CX (24-4 Actro) with Airfoil 30 mounts.

Cheers,
Jeff

I'll be around the the Detroit Lakes area.
My parents have a place on a lake where most of my summers were spent.
