Just give Novaman a PM. I don't think he has a website? I just ordered the frame set from him in a PM last week and got it in the mail yesterday. Awesome set of frames and made really good. It comes with everything you need to change out the stock frames with the carbon ones, frames, battery support, all the derlin spacers, bolts, washers, landing gear tabs, etc.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

What's the servo hole dementions? I use JR DS3421's and have to lengthen the stock openings to fit the servos. I'd like to have a set of frames but don't want to dremmel on them right off the bat. Will 3421's fit?

your jr servos will fit right in, i use the 3121 which are the same dimensions.

the servo cutout is 2"x1.37".
the tail servo cutout is for a full size servo: 1.67" wide.

you have to drill the holes for the srvo screws though.

thanks,

Thanks for the reply novaman, I just placed an order for a frame set and motor mount, when will the main bearing blocks be in stock? I'm sure I'd like one of those also, keep me from using spacers with the stock block.

Any plans for an ESC and UBEC mount that will bolt on the front of the motor mount?

Thanks

Rick

Precision model products makes a ESC mount. He is no longer taking orders directly but I am sure someone is carrying them. It is very nice upgrade.

FXAreomodels has them in stock. Here is the link http://www.fxaeromodels.com/logo2.htm I have one and I put it on my carbon frame set. Had to drill a couple holes in the motor mount and tap them to fit a 3 mm bolt. Then use some 5 mm aluminum spacers so it doesn't hit the motor.

Cheers, Patrick

Just a reminder if you use the Futaba S9650 digital servos, you have to make the frames a 1.5-2.0mm wider. The servo holes that are in the frames now are 34mm and the servos are 35.5mm.

Cheers, Patrick

choppers

thanks, i am glad you like them. i have been thinking about getting some parts anodized.
i was at the auto parts store and picked up some anodizing paint, it is called metalcast. it claims to withstand temperatures of 500 degrees f and resist fuel and oil, which on electric heli you wouldn't have to worry about that.

i sprayed some pieces for myself and they came out nice, i was surprised at the finish. i showed a couple people and they thought it was anodized.

you might want to give it a try, it comes in a few colors, blue, red, purple, gold, green, and black.

i did soak a piece in 30 percent nitro for about 15 minutes and it didn't rub off, i soaked for about another hour and it did wipe off then, so i wouldn't recommend it for nitro applications.

here is a pic of a motor mount i did.

Getting ready to start changing out my frames, just had a thought about the landing gear bows, do the mounting holes in the bows need to be re-drilled to match the new carbon frames?

Hey novaman, what method do you use to connect the servos to the frame? I thought about using some locknut's but it will be very hard to screw them on? I was also thinking of using a piece of plastic as an anchor to screw the servo screws through? Any help will be great.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

no, you shouldn't have to drill the bows. mount the aluminum angles to the frames first, then adjust the bows to the angle holes.

patrick

you can use locknuts, i use regular nuts with locktite. i use angled needle nose pliers to get into the tight spots. after the holes are marked and drilled, remove the 4 bolts for the main bearing block and move it out of the way, that should make it easier to get at the bolts.

if you go the plastic strip route, which i have done also. put a dab of ca on the strip piece you use to hold it to the frames, predrill them too. i used the servo screws from micro fasteners(threaded ones) with some rubberized ca on the screw and just screwed them in.

Anyone figure out a good way to install the boombrace while using the carbon frames?
