Ok, thats the one im leaning towards, Chiec Aircraft has it for $369 and crash kit for like 55, so im thinking of that. Got another newbie question..... How do you start a Gas Heli? I know on planes you use a handheld starter or chicken stick (I would't use one ) and cars a starter box, is there special way or what? hate asking noob questions.......

You use a normal aircraft starter with a 'special' wand that has a 6mm hexagonal tip. It engages with a cup that is attached to the engine. Fire up the engine, walk away and then speed up the engine to engage the centrifugal clutch (same as a car) and get those blades spinning!

Skip the 30 and get the 50.
The 401 Gyro is a good choice.

The 50 will be more stable and easier to see, the 30 is way under powered when you get into basic aerobatics.
Since you were going to get a 50 later on. I'd go ahead and get the 50. I wish I had.
Post a question in the main discusion asking whether you should start with a 30 or 50 and you can get a better idea. Many will tell you to get a raptor, Get what YOU like. If you can afford it go for the Voyager 50.

Is there someone in your area to help you with it?

I just started flying helicopters and was told the best to start on was the Raptor 30V2. It is a good starer heli and can do alot of 3D. I was also told that you can just swap out the engine for a 50 later on if you want to step up without to much hassle. I have only flown it a couple of times but it seems to be a good ship. Alot of the experienced guys I fly with have one and they say it is a good bird to do 3D with.

See what I mean?????

I believe the upgrade for the raptor is more than swapping engines, from what I read the conversion kit has a longer tail boom/belt, longer main blades, different gearing etc...

heres a pic of the kit:

OK so there is a little more work than I thought but it still doesnt sound like it would be very hard and I felt a little more comfortable learning on a smaller bird. I guess it is all personal prefrence. I also was able to buy the raptor30 kit for much cheaper than the 50.

Go with the Raptor 50. Cheap to fix and it flys great.

I vote to get a 30 size as a beginner.

MUCH less fuel and plenty of power for the beginner. Yes I know, the raptor 50 is a powerhouse (I have one) but as a beginner you don't need "all that power." You can always up grade later or maybe by then you will want a different heli anyway. The 30 will be cheaper to repair then the 50 and the money you'll save on fuel you can spend on a sim or use to upgrade to that 50. The 30 will do loops and rolls and all the inverted flight too just like the 50 or 60. Your not going to "out grow it. " Rememeber, we all flew 30 size just a few years ago before the 46/50 craze. Keep it simple, learn to fly and then buy the nice shiny parts.

I was in the same state of mond as you are in about the venture 30...I read hundreds of htreads on runryder and rcuniverse and talked to many hobbyshops about the venture 30, and 50......All told me if I was looking for a 30 size machine then either a raptor or caliber would be the ticket.....Alot of people told me that the venture although adverticed as a 30 3d heli is very limited..I never flown one bi=ut this is what I was told 90% of the time...You can but a 50 size motor in a raptor 30..All you need is the engine bracket and a new main gear...Or you can buy the 50 conversion and it comes with ta longer boom, belt, main gear, pinoin gear and 600mm blades...I have seen one fly and it flies pretty good....It is not easier to see then the 30 because they are they same size except for the blades and boom.....I would get a 30 size and fly it until you can put it to its limits...Then you could sell it and get you a 60 size..They are much bigger and easier to see in the sky....

Hey bud,

That is a much more loaded question. Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with either. I have the JR 8103, now going on 6 years and have not out grown it yet. I think if I was to buy a new radio, I would look into the Multiplex EVO 9.
