im looking for detailed instruction for building the cords on these.

i would like preflights more but there web page just trys to sell you the cord not tell you how to make it.

I got FMS and bought the PIC Interface kit (compatible with WinXP) in the U.K. for $15. With all the instructions on the web, it was easy to assemble.
I like it and its doing the job. Personally I don't like sims that much but it's a great help to get the stick movement right for e.g. nose-in, inverted, etc.

I built my own circuit diagram for FMS - a serial port one which is much better than parallel IMHO. The important thing is to find a circuit diagram that has been tested for your type of transmitter! Check out the forums at the FMS website for more info.

I haven't really tried preflight because as you have stated there seems to be a lack of info for building the adapter.
