Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > Raptor 30 Setup?'s on Cyclic

Should I shoot for some kind of maximum pitch on the cyclic (aileron & elevator)? Or just leave it where it is. Do I even need to measure it?
What should it be?

Thanks!

Most people suggest somewhere around 6 for normal with a max degree of 7 for serious stuff. Any more than that and you risk stalling a main blade. Most blades stall at around 15-18 depending on airfoil and composition. If you have +10 collective and add +6 cyclic that puts you at +16 on the main blades.

To measure cyclic, put your pitch gage on the main blades and swing them over the body (front to back). Set the collective to 0 degrees. Input full right and left cyclic and read the results on the main blades. Swing the blades straight out the sides and do the same for elevator cyclic. The stock setup should give you about 5.5-6 degrees if set up per instructions.

Thanks Dwayne

Dwayne,
that info was very helpful! I have set my raptor up for 3d and I get +/- 9 degrees collective, I'm also seeing about that much on cyclic.... Eventhough I'm a complete beginner I will limit my collective via my pitch curve. However, when setting the limits on my cyclic should I just set my ATV's to get it around +/- 6 degrees? If so, my ATV is around 60%.... Is this OK?
Thanks again!

Thats perfectly ok to run at 60%. If you want, you could adjust your linkages to make it closer to 100. This would give you more torque from the servo, but less speed. If your servo can handle it (it probably can) I would just leave it like it is and run 60%. If you are using the "3D" hole on the washout arms, you could move back to the regular hole and probably end up with 100% at 6 degrees. I am doing mild 3D and still do not use the "3D" hole on the washout. I see no need for it. It seems to do nothing but increase your "throw" and if you can get 7 degrees out of the stock hole then why bother. I could be wrong, it may change the geometry. Maybe someone else can give some input here.

If you get to a point where 7 degrees is not fast enough for you, run different paddles, not more throw. KSJ's as well as others have proven to greatly increase rate without having to run more than 7 degrees. The stock paddles and 6 degrees will carry you through basic flight, loops, rolls, etc without any problems.
