I just got a pair of "SAB 550mm Blades" for my "R30". I don't think this would matter which way. But do you Guy's prefer to put the flat alloy spacer on top or bottom side of the blade?

Also is it normal for the bolts to have a bit of play in the bolt holes of the SAB blades? (With the 4mm brass spacer installed in the blade) As the stock wooden blades have quite a neat fit.

Thanks, Hayden.

I have the spacer underneath the blade and there is no play between the bolt and the blade.

This ticks me off. Why they supply only one fat 2mm spacer I don't know. This ends up making the blade not centered with the spindle. Whether put on top or on bottom, I don't know which is better, but I am guessing better on the bottom for right side up flying. Whether the blade not being centered with the spindle causes any ill effect I am not sure of. For my SAB 600's I went and found some thin 1mm spacers. Ask around as a lot of blades come with them and many don't use them on their helis. NHP used to sell them separately but they no longer do so. The helimax blades come with them, and there must be some floating around out there somewhere.

BTW, if anyone has a bunch of these thin blade spacers, I would like to buy some sets of 4, or trade for other misc hardware you might need. Let me know, thanks.

I put the spacer on the bottom. I guessed it would give it a little more distance from the boom.

distance between your blades and your tailboom is your friend

I don't use the supplied spacers. The problem with them is since they are made of aluminum, they make a mess around the blade holder. I made my own spacers from a 1 mm nylon sheet.
