Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > Stiff Autorotation hub.

Is the raptor autoration hub supposed to be stiff? When I hold the main gear and rotate the head it does not freely rotate.

My ergo 60 will spin forever. But the raptor feels like a wheel on a toys r us skateboard. Is this made this way so the tail will rotate also when doing a auto?

My friend has a raptor and his is stiff as well. And he was wondering the same thing. He has not done a autorotation yet but would probably feel more comfortable knowing that nothing is wrong.

hi there

something is definitely wrong !!!!

it should spin freely.
maybe a flight or two would loosen it up.
or a rebuild - check that your screws are not over tightened.

Hey Travis,

I just got the 50 kit. On the 15th flight I noticed my tail not slipping on auto's anymore and checked the auto hub. It was locked solid. I disassembled the unit completely and cleaned it up. Got all the old grease out and reassembled with some tri-flow and now it's as smooth as a babys bottom.

Stiff Auto Hub

I had the same problem with my auto hub.

I pulled everything apart and re-lubed the one-way bearing (which I had done before). I also reassembled with the T/R belt slightly more loose than before, and this time did NOT overtighten the bolt on the bottom of the main shaft. These three things made it much better. It actually spins now.

if your main upper / lower bearing blocks are not aligned right you'll have drag . it's not the sprag system. blade rotation / enertia will loosen things up afterwards . take the gear out and just spin it on extra main shaft , see what it's doing as it rotates. should spin free. and the main shaft should slide down within it's own gravity while aligned.
