Engines Plugs Mufflers Fuel > Davis Diesel heads...anyone?

Hello everyone,

Everytime I get a new RCM magizine I see the ad for Davis Diesel heads that talks about how it boosts power with better fuel economy. Has anyone every used one on a heli or plane? If so, how do they work?

Thanks,

Mike

I've seen a couple flown in planks. They were both a bitch to get started
but once going flew ok (for a plank).

The biggest hassle with them is getting proper fuel. The diesel out of the town pump doesn't cut it. You can either make your own (if you can find a source of ether - not likely these days) or you can buy a concentrate from Davis and just add your oil.

It would be a fun experiment, but they don't seem practical for heli use.

Oh, that sucks. I figured that it'd run on regular #1 diesel or kerosene with oil mixed in. I bet the fuel from Davis is expensive too.

I just think it'd be cool to have the heli blowing black smoke and smelling like diesel.

Oh, well, I'll live without it for now ,

Ether and dezel fuel plus oil is the fuel. The high compression causes much higher levels of vibration and the tourque peaks would be severe strain on the clutch.
