Hi,

to those of you who put a 80-90 sized engine in their Mill with a 15 th pinion gear, how far have you got to slot the holes of the clutch bearing block?

What's the diameter difference between the stock 13th pinion and the 15th (1:8) optional gear?

YS80 or OS91

Hi Martin,

do be honnest I didn't tried the OS yet. I tested the YS80 in the following setup :

YS80 with 61STII throttle barrel
CP30%
Enya 3
Hatori muffler
gear ratio 8,4 : 1

The 61 STII throttle barrel tends to slightly smooth the running a bit more, which is no really so critic as some people seems to think. The YS is already a smoooth engine. The power delivered is definitely consistent. The pump design is a stock design, not an add-on pump system. I heard from a very good pilot that his 80 runs a little bit better on 20% nitro, which tends to avoid having pre-inition. Mine runs 30% without any sign of detonation, so the limit is really close, I guess.

I 'm exactly in the same situation as you : should I try the OS or stick with what I've got? hehe, tricky choice..

I will wait until the 90 sized muscle pipe is released, and I'll try the combo OS91+MP90+CP15%

you have to make a hole for the clutch block a little longer, because there is a 2mm +/- difference, also the engine will be shimmed, so you do have to prolong the holes.
if you need to know the diameter of 15t +-17mm, 14t -16mm

Concerning the exhaust, the Hatori needs a spacer to avoid touching the tank. Where you guys did find it?

Hi Remi,

I believe that the SB15 is the two piece, front head, version of the hatori's muffler for the 80 to 90 size motors. I also have not been able to find the hatori part number for this muffler which leads me to believe that it has not yet been introduced in the Asian or European markets.
The nice thing about the SB15 is that it has a larger diameter chamber which makes it shorter than it’s one piece counterparts (HT980 for OS 91 and HT981 for YS 80) and therefore can be directly mounted on the Mille or the Nova.
This is not the case for the one piece versions since they require the repositioning of the throttle servo to avoid interference with the front portion of the muffler.

They now have a SB16B which is short fat and one peice with a dent in it. It says its for the Mille and XL Pro. Has anyone used one of these?

HAHAHA I have the dent problem myself. I seen it at Huntsville this weekend in the Absolute Heli booth. Its about 1/2 to 3/4 closer to the front than my SB17. I'm not sure what the dent is for maybe something on the Mille. I'll let you know David.

Hi

the dent on this hatori muffler is designed to keep some clearance on the third screw which fit at middle height of the freya's engine mount. The funny thing is that I don't understand why they just don't do the inlet longer and keep the muffler body a couple mm away from the frame assembly. This seems more easy that doing a "clean dent" in the muffler


On the OS91 version of this muffler, the overall clearance is about 4 mm between muffler and tank

On the YS80 version of the same muffler, the clearance lacks 4 mm. So I need a spacer to avoid touching the tank.

Dent

The SB is for american market. but look at japanese counterpart hatori #985 which is for freya.

The reason for the dent is clear the canopy on the freya, you does not have to cut the fibreglass canopy, and you only need to cut a bit on the plastic one.

Compare some photo on tood'd freya and yours (maybe), you will notice. I love the look of 985 on my freya.
