When I am in hover, about 3 feet up, my Raptor 30 training gear start to resonate and vibrate very badly. This happens after I am up about 30 seconds to a minute. I am still a beginner so I am afraid to go higher with the throttle/collective for fear of going to high and too far. The training gear is 4 carbon fiber rods attached to a wood block and wiffle balls at the end.( I forget the manufacturer) The are attached to the landing skids with rubber bands- tightly.Any suggestions as to how I can stabilize this vibration ?

fixes for the resonance are one or more of the following:

change the RPM to attempt to get the RPM away from the reso. freq.

Shorten the carbon rods an inch or 2 at a time which changes the
freq that the training gear resonate at.

Change the mounting method between the training gear and machine.
Often, those plastic wire ties bind it too tightly. You can try some
of the hobby 64 (?) size rubber bands to decouple the mahcine from
the landing gear. Back when I was learning, I used rubber bands
and if I wrapped them 3x around, it would cause the resonance but
loosening them up to only 2 wraps around stopped it.

Use rubber bands to fasten the training gear to the landing skids and don't over tighten them. And/or change your head speed (the helis, not yours.) If you still have the same problem its time to get a little more drastic, shorten the training gear by about a balls width (once again the training gear balls & not yours.)

Typical with carbon fiber rods used as training gear. CF is bad and will resonate with the heli rather than dampering vibrations.
I would replace the CF with wood rods (about $4.00 at Home Depot). Since you're at it, shorten the lengh of the roads as well, by 3 to 5 inches. That should take care of the problem.

BTW, carbon fiber rods will also break too often of hard landings. Good idea to replace them anyway.

Flew my raptor for the first time today. Had the same thing happen. I slowed the head spead down a bit and it went a way. I used zip ties, but I'm gonna use rubber bands now on to keep the problem from coming back.

Actually, the BEST material to use are those fibreglass rods
that get sold in Home Depot or Lowes for use in marking driveways
in the winter time.

This doesn't apply to the SoCal or Florida contingent

Home Depot also has (in the sign department) some 1/4" 4 foot fiberglass rods (red) which I just used to construct training gear for my Rap 50 (for my grand son) worked great and survived a day of "ground pounding" that would have snapped wood.

I had no resonance problem at all (cut 12' off the "pointed end".
