Is there any company that can provide a UAV helicopter in this scale. Our company has been approached by perspective clients who are seeking a model r/c helicopter to be used as an aerial target.
The model must represent a scaled down version of an attack helicopter currently in-use by the armed forces of the world.

What are your requirements for this model?

Does it need autonomous capability?, or some flight-assistance to allow it to be flown easily FPV (ie by a pilot + a video link)?.

Why would your company be approached about this. if you don`t know jack about it??? Leave R/C Heli`s and UAV`s to the pro`s.

1/5 Scale Heli

Robert,

I believe we have exactly what you are looking for.
We have two gas powered models and one jet turbine. Since we manufacture the complete helicopter we could create a mold for the body type to be replicated and the heli profile of their choice. I am assuming they want some type of onboard telemetry and targeting system as well.

The basic specs depending on model are:

Max range: 20km - 800km
Max speed: 100kph - 144kph
Max ceiling: 3500 - 4000m
Flight Time: 45min to 8hr
Rate of Climb: 6.5m - 8m/sec with 5kg payload
Max payload: 12kg - 28kg
Control: Autonomous, RPV or PCV via GPS or their control system, will integrate to meet their specifics.

We have been concentrating on maximizing capacity for defense payloads but are working on increasing airspeed which would better replicate the targeting application they are interested in.

Upon their request we can accomodate a paid demo and full flight trials if necessary.

That Yamaha heli called the R50 would make a good target at about 1/5th. Don't you think? Very expensive cannon fodder!!!

What I mean is I wouldn`t go to Ford Motor Co. and ask them to build me a Heli, just as I wouln`t go to Boeing and ask them to build me a car. If your buisness is getting approached about UAV`s then your company probably builds them in the first place. There are plenty of companies that due like Grumman, NRI, GE, Boeing and others. So please research about the topic and don`t bite off more then you can chew. UAV`s are exspensive, complex, and require a vast working knowledge of the systems required to take flight. Aerospace companies that work for the DOD don`t ask around the World Wide Web to start a project as this would probably violate the confidentiality of the project. Just my two cents.

To all, take a chill pill. My first comment was alittle harsh(For this Iam Sorrry), but UAV`s and RPV`s are not something you just buy off a shelf, gas up and go. As for contacting Robert no need too. If Mr. Goetz wants us to know more he will spell it out , other wise it is not my buisness. He just asked a question and I gave a answer.( My opinion) As for all prior post, all are well taken. I don`t let anything get me pissed off. Good Luck to all. Just my two cents and nothing more. Everyone is intitled to there own unpinion, my prior post were mine.!!! Thats all, If you don`t like it Iam sorry... Besides I depend on the very stuff that some of you have built and to this i say keep up the good work!
