I'm finally nearing the end putting my Corona together, need to install servo arms, properly mount the engine I'm putting in, and waiting for the antenna to arrive. What I want to know is, if I'm sitting right next to the heli, with everything basically hooked up except for an antenna, should the radio have any kind of affect on anything, because nothings happening when I turn on the radio and move the sticks. I thought maybe just having antenna wire present might create a signal if I'm sitting that close. Battery packs fully charged and hooked up, servo's and gyro plugged in, switch turned on, even the motor is already soldered to the ESC ( I got ahead of myself and connected motor to ESC before servo's or anything was adjusted which the Corona book said not to do). I definately need to learn more about my radio. All I really have programmed into it is that it's supposed to recognize "Heli 1", in the computer. So, is it normal not to have any kind of a signal at all without an antenna? Pardon my ignorance, but I'm a little concerned, thanks, Steve.

It should work. What radio gear? Is your tx set to PPM (or PCM if you have a PCM rx)?

Hi Lance, it's the Airtronics RD8000. I don't know what it's set to at the moment. I think I need to set it at PCM. It has all modes, it's just that If I remember right, on the PCM mode, as long as the reciever is the airtronics, it will use the last sensible control input to save it from crashing if momentarily lose signal while flying. So, if I'm thinking right, the PCM mode is the one I should go with? Whats your opinion? After I get some sleep, I'm gonna try and mess with it, thanks Lance, Steve.

I have no experience with the Airtronics but unless you have a PCM rx, setting the tx to PCM mode will not work. The tx mode, PCM or PPM, has to match the rx.

Hey Lance, I found the problem. The guy at the hobby store who I had solder my motor to esc, screwed up my new reciever. See, since I have the VE struts, I also wanted to have the switch located towards the back of crutch. I didn't want switch's changed, just wire added. He used a switch that had to outlets, stated it would be ok, but it shorted it out. Sent it off to Airtronics for repairs. My Hacker ESC may be damaged too. Disapointing delay, and costly. I've practiced enough to solder pretty descent now, but I wish I'd just done it myself to begin with, later, Steve.
