Beginners Corner > cold weather? tail mounted servo?

in the cool weather my tail belt loosens up

on my Raptor 30, and I've had to adjust the belt tension. Now would a tail mounted servo be a good upgrade for that reason? I was looking at the quick uk tail servo kit. I'm not looking for any performance or whatever, just the fact that I always have to mess with my t/r linkages when my belt loosens up.

Thanks for your opinions

Your belt should not loosen up. Make sure your tail boom is tight and maybe put a drop of CA in there. The biggest advantage of a boom mounted servo is that you have less flex with your pushrod. I would not consider it a fix to your belt loosening.

being from warm sunny california, you wouldn't know this

In transitioning cold weather like he has in Canada, the boom
will shrink slightly to the point where the belt will loosen.

A boom servo mount (that attachs to the boom, not the body) would
help.

A little Red auto RTV gasket sealer around the boom where it mounts to the frame will solve your problem as well. Just let it set up and it will be good to go.

Cold temps

Warning: Dont fly below 10 degrees !!!! Servos tend to become real
sluggish at the most critical time. Dont ask me how I know.
