| I finally did it. I told myself staring out that I would wait 'til I burned the first gallon before I took the rotopod off, and today I finally did it!! I've heard everyone say that the heli would fly much better after taking the baby wheels off, but I had no idea how well!! It's like a whole different heli. Far more stable, responsive, and the collective feel is FAR better.
I've been practicing FFF with HH on in G2 for the last couple of weeks, and so after hovering through a full tank w/o the rotopod I decided to take the plunge into FFF. It was SO much easier than G2, mostly because the heli is so much more visible and it's so much easier to judge the helis position relative to you, the ground, and everything else! I even did my first baby auto (been practicing full autos in the sim for a long time with about a 90% success rate).
Burned 1/2 a gallon of fuel today before the sun started burning me and I had to pack up. For all those out there who are scared to take the gear off or go into FFF with the real thing, but can do it well on the sim, I DEFINATELY recommend you just do it, it's SO INCREDIBLE! G2 is worth its weight in gold!
I'm done tooting my horn, but I had to share because I'm so psyched and my wife just doesn't understand!
