I really do apprieciate all of your input. Very helpful.
Come to find out, this motor need to run reverse to work correctly.
I am actually an old e-car guy (mostly nitro cars now though) and in this case I think it hurt me.
From my car days, I use motor fans to break in engines and the air is always suppose to blow thru the motor. Then for timing you would turn the endbell counter clockwise to advance.
Well....When I first got this helicopter, I took the motor out to cut the comm. I had noticed that it looked to me like the motor had retarded timing in it (was to the right of the zero timing). I said ah-hah, this heli guy I bought from didn't know much about electric motors. I'll make it better and put 10 degree of advance timing in and it will run better.
Little did I know at the time, but I was the one who put retarded timing in, probably causing most of my headaches to date.
Once I realized and confirmed with another e-car guy, it made sense and the original owner did have it in the right place after all.
I do keep hearing you guys talk about the batteries and it very well could be them, but even yesterday with retarded timing, I was getting 1540 RPM at about 7 degrees of pitch. I am willing to bet I can get 1600RPM pretty easy now that the motor is set correctly.
I'll check back in once I have tested this. |
