Have any XRB owners cut the covering off the cable, does this improve the performance? I find the cable dragging is very off putting when trying manouvers, i know there will always be limitations with a tethered system and i would like to go fully RC with it when i have some spare cash

I haven't, I'm not sure what you'd really gain, other than making an already fragile cable even weaker. I know what you mean about it dragging a bit, especially on carpeting. When I'm flying in the living room (Quiet!, the wife doesn't know I still do that! ) which is fully carpetted, I normally launch then climb almost to the ceiling. that way the cable extends out almost fully and hangs directly underneath. Then, when I reduce altitude, it coils loosely directly under the XRB, giving me a bit more room to manouver without dragging the cable around to a new position from take-off.

It isn't much, but it is noticeable and helps

Wayne's idea of launching up close to the ceiling is a good one.... i do the same thing, particularly when practicing spot landings as it ensures that the cable doesnt get in the way or there is enough slack over the landing spot to do what I want.

Before flying I usually hold the XRB upside down by the cable (Gently!) and allow it to spin so there are as few twists in the cable as possible. Seems like it ends up getting caught in the carpet alot less and overall tends to be less of a hastle...

If you find the cable is too much of a problem, maybe its a good reason to upgrade to an untethered heli!!!

Good luck! Enjoy that Lama!
