| Many choicesHello, I'm a beginner who is currrently in the proccess of finishing my Corona w/seperates. The people on this forum are so helpful, so you came to the right place. I definately suggest you download " The Electric Helicopter Beginners Guide", by Toshiyasu Marita. To do this, look at the rescent posting which has the web address. I have it on disc from a few months ago. He describes in detail about building the Corona w/seperates, as well as, other models. It's priceless! From this article, other research, and questions I had answered on this forum, this is the seperates set-up I decided to purchase. Base package ( no motor, or ESC, gyro, radio, etc.) $175.00 from Roffee TV & Hobby (looks like you can get this cheaper) Hacker Brushless C40-12T motor combo with matching Master Series Hacker Jeti 40-3p ESC = $260.00 at Roffee Hobby ( other vendor's charge closer to the $300.00 range). This motor is costly, but every person I've come across who knows them loves the power, dependability, and the longevity of Hacker with the Corona. Servo's; two Hitec HS-85MG for cyclic = around $ 30.00 each, one Hitec HS-81 for tail rotor around $23.00 (many heli people prefer metal gears for cyclic, but not for tail). Gyro; Futaba GY240 w/hh ( good for the money, but I believe went up in price to $119.00). If you need a new battery charger, the highly recommended Supernova 250S has been on sale at Dymond.com for $89.00 while the new version is sold out. Other vendor's charge $109.00-129.00 for the same charger. Batteries; GP3300 from Battlepack.com, price is comparible to others, but this guy only makes batteries and assembles them right after you order the packs and gives you the choice of wire and connectors (7-cell if you get the powerful Hacker). Radio; Everyone is loyal to whatever radio they own, it seems. I just purchased the Airtronics RD8000. I've read articles which choose this radio as one of the best in Heli's. For an 8 channeI Heli radio, you can't beat it. Options are countless. You can use most any option on any channel, It lets you know in letters whats on each channel, not just numbers, Futaba doesn't even do that. 4 heli mode compared to 2 by others, 10 model memory. Got a sweet deal on this because I bought it as a one time deal with no servo's--Airtronics really doesn't want vendor's to do that. FYI, unless you purchase a Futaba or Hitec, you'll probably have to buy servo's with it as part of the deal, which considerably raises costs. Also, seperates can get expensive and many people think it's foolish to put a lot of money in the Corona, I don't think so. But, it is time consuming and costly. I should hopefully have mine flying ( if it works ha ha), within a week if I can figure out a few things soon enough. Good luck, you'll enjoy whatever you buy. Hope this was some help, later, Steve. |
