Scale Model RC Helicopters > Silly Airwolf questions... but just curious

How many of you built a 30 Century Airwolf and did not put the guns on it?? Just curious.. It's hard to picture Airwolf without the guns...

I'm scratch building that rocket launcher for under the body as well.. Does anyone remember if it had 3 or 4 pods?? I'm thinking 3, but I may be wrong.

Thanks!!

I'm doing one, and thinking seriously of not putting the guns on.

It'll be different to everyone else's, and I won't have to worry about breaking them off. And, there's less painting to do.

Retractable, like the big Vario, would be nice, but that's probably a bit much for a 30.

cool.. thanks for the pic.. darn...... I followed the directions in the manual, which puts the big gun on top and the other 2 on bottom.. This is opposite of the real one.. grrrrr

Thanks again.. I guess they do add to the looks, but will be very easy to break off by accident

No guns on mine either, since they dont retract I knew they would break sooner or later in transporting it, so why waste the effort. Id definatly install them on a 60 size Wolf tho definatly and the rockets too, and the scale lowering gear kit too!

Nope.. too chicken nah.. I'm just forcing myself to finish up a Cap and Staudacher that I've been putting off for way too long.. My daughter's kindergarden class is coming to our field for some flight demo's, and I don't have a single plank ready to fly yet I'll let you know how it does go though, and I'll take a few pics

Thanks a ton for all your help guys!!!!!!!!!

When you do finally get it up its biggest difference between itself and a pod/boomer is its extra weight and vibrations can be an issue. Be sure the mechs are solidly attached and have a bracket attaching the top of the fuse to the mechs as well otherwise the fuse will shake, I stuffed foam in the tailboom area of mine also to absorb vibs there too. The glasswork on a 30 size scaler is very thin and can vibrate and resonate easly because of this fact, be sure your tail and mains are very well balanced, be even more anal about that then you would normally be about a stock boomer. A slight amount more hover pitch than normal and you shouldnt have any surprises.

seen more of it on 60's than a 30 . I made my first set on a unimat3 using straight aluminum barstock. it looked similiar to this pic found on swiss site, check these guns out ..

Airwolf Prototype Pics

To all who wants them: I have about 71 close up scanned pics of the original prototype Airwolf if interested. They are in Adobe format and indexed. To date, I have gotten nothing but great feedback from the people that I have forwarded the file to. And according to them, they have not seen anything like them to date. If you are building, or have built, an Airwolf and want to know the detail of the original prototype, drop me an email and I'll forward them to ya. (I don't charge for them either)
I have split the original file to 6 different compressed Zip files to make it easier to email people as the file is over 4000k and my attachment limit is 1024k.
