Safety - RC Helis are not toys > AMA insurance claim

I was just talking about AMA and their insurance service to a guy at work and I started to wonder: Has anyone ever put a claim on their AMA insurance? I'd be curious what the payoff was and how it got handled......

Hey Greg,

I had my Fury stolen awhile back and filed a claim with my Home Owners Insurance and AMA Insurance. The home insurance paid everything minus the $500 deductible. AMA insurance paid the $500 deductible, minus there $100 deductible. Everything was handled properly and in a timely manner.

Had a friend cut off the tip of his finger with a prop. AMA was his secondary insurance and was handled promptly with no problems.

Had a friend of mine cut his finger on a plank once and sent the ER bill to AMA, and they helped pick up almost everything that his insurance left. Pretty quickly as well.

Ditto jtag's post. Same thing happened to me. AMA covered what homeowners didn't minus$100. I wish AMA covered my home and vehicles 'cause they work fast!

Question, does homeowner's cover a heli pilot wherever and however an accident might happen? My insurance agent tells me I am covered for RC models, just wondering if that is the case with most homeowner's insurance policies.

How do they assess the value? Do you give them receipts of everything that was stolen? (say transmitter, rx, servos, heli, blades, etc)? Do helis need to be added on seperately to renter's insurance? Thanks

Now lets say, for example, I accidentially put
a machine through the picture window of the house
of a neighbor (who just happens to be
complaining about the noise). Would AMA pay for that?

My Hobby Trailer and pickup truck were robbed back in Dec 01. I had nearly $20,000 worth of tools, heli stuff, blade case full of blades, digital camera, palm pilot, and lots of other stuff,,,,Statefarm payed me replacement cost on my claim and I was very happy. I filed a lost with AMA and I received a check for $1000. There were no problems,,,,I had a $1000 deductable and ama covered that.

Thanks AMA

not bad for a small yearly membership fee.

It pays to save receipts!!!! Even if you get the stuff second hand, you should video your whole garage so you have proof that you had the stuff and email correspondences from the transaction if you purchased used stuff.
