I have seen a few machines lately with header tanks on YS pumped engines and was curious what the majority was doing.

The use of header tanks on a YS depends on the need for either a bubble trap for a aft facing clunk line type main tank (like an XLPro2KWC) or more fuel capacity (like the motor I had in my Pro last year). As the main tank gets low, long vertical diving manuvers will allow the clunk to suck air. The header tank prevents air from getting to the motor until real late in the flight. A YS regulator system will usually ignore an air bubble in the line, but in a contest situation you can't be too careful.

I used header tanks in the XLPro2KWC that I flew last year. The motor I had was a real animal but was a gas hog, and the "B" Schedule is a long one.

I see no benefit in using one in a machine that has the clunk line oriented sideways, unless you need more fuel.

I use one on my Fury and .46 Graphite because the main tanks are up under the canopy and is sometimes hard to see in flight. With the header tank out in the open, I can do a slow flyby and see if its full or not.

On the POS Falcon, its a necessity because of fuel foaming issues in the main tank. On the PHI for more run time.

It saved my Fury once already....... I was just having too much fun. With the YS in the Fury, the engine demeanor doesn't change from warm up to finish. With the other engines, they definitely get a little leaner as the fuel burns out of the main tank so you get a hint of where you are in your fuel burn. Not the case with the YS and it almost got me.

I am using a servo horn that is 13.5mm long on all my machines with the GY-601. This is with 4.67:1 gear ratio, 105mm tail blades and the Pro tail rotor control mechanism. On the tail pitch slider, I add two or three of the old style clutch / clutch bell washers (the really thin ones) on the brass slider between the bearing and the pitch "plate".

Pulling fuel line off.

After flying the other day I pulld the supply line off the engine I could not believe that it still idled for another 20 to 30 seconds. The YS holds more fuel than I thought in the diaphram and lines. Just food for thought.

I have tried to get my freya to quit lower to the ground I have no header tank and I'll be damned if it won't get the last drop of fuel first
