Henseleit 3DNT - Rocket - 3DMP > Tail pitch link - lead edge, or trail edge?

Hi,

I got one of the first 3DNT's a good while ago now and have the tail pitch linkage driving the leading edge of the tail rotor blades (as it is in the instructions (the written ones)).

I've since upgraded the tail parts to include the larger holders and extended centre hub to enable the use of carbon blades. Also upgraded to the multi-part pitch linkage instead of the one-piece stock part (as on the Mikado range) 0916e.

I've checked on the latest manual I have (CD copy - rev2 I think) and the drive is to the leading edge but my mate who has the latest version drives the trailing edge so I'm just wondering if you could have a look at your setup and let me know which you are running?

The aluminium ring part of the pitch slider is also mounted as in the instructions (with the larger diameter section facing the blades) which is causing unequal travel on the left/right movement - have you reversed yours to get a better match on the travels?

'A picture can paint a thousand words' so here's one I took earlier

It's flying really well at the moment so I'm a little reluctant to change anything but if it turns out to be setup incorrectly then I'll put it right.

Cheers
Richard.

The alluminium colar should have the smaller diameter facing the blades...

The blade holders should be driven from the trailing edge..

page 25 of the july 2003 manual, last paragraph...ATTENTION!!! The linkages are connected to the trailing side of the blade holders.

I have just done this with mine , if you are running the "round" grips , 2002 version then the linkage goes onto the leading edge with the bearing facing out , as you have in the picture

With the new grips , the ones with the extra lugs on the side , you reverse the bearing so the smaller diameter faces the blades and you run the tailing edge.

You will also need to reverse the servo and gyro ...

Richard,

Just checked both manuals and your is set up correctly on the 2002 versions the tail blades are driven with the leading edge and the pitch slider has the fat end facing the blade grips.

With the newer versions they have the taild blades driven on the tariling edge with the picth slider fact end facing the boom.

You have the newer tail set up so you should really change your setup around but I do not know if it will have a difference.
