| I'm guessing u built these would blades from scratch? Your theory on balancing is sound, just making sure.....when u put the lead in, put it all the way towards the tip. Then epoxy them in (i used to use 30 min or more). If u put a piece of masking tape over the whole, then trim it out, then glue it, then pull of tape to get rid of extra glue. Get as close as possible b4 u glue, so u will need less tape. I'm not sure about electrical tape, but maybe if u run a bead of thin CA at the edges it will keep it from peeling, just keep an eye on it. Usually it doesn't take that much tape BTW but...oh well, practice makes perfect.....a little lead=a lot of tape.
"in the old days" b4 they had carbon or glass blades available at a reasonable price, u had to build blades. A triple beam scale and koll-rotor bladed balancer made it easier and more accurate. Those tools alone are about $250-the cost of three sets of blades that u can get now pre-made and balanced (I usually just high-point balance now), so is it worth it? But the way u balanced-either time, they should be pretty damn close. good luck.... |
