| I've played with the LMH, good to screw around with, and just got one for my Dad to learn on,he's kind of slow and they crash real well. plus the wood frame make for easy repair or quick rebuild for him. never broke one yet but I flew mine straight into the side of my barn, just knocked my gyro loose so flew it again. I used the helimax piezo gyro, thats all you need for the LMH but the gy240 may be cool. my recomendation though is to trash the engine and convert to 8 cell electric. flys much better, and I flew mine in the basement. a 17t atomic force mounts in direct replacement for the engine, with a 12t pinion has tons of power and about 5-6 minutes of flight. I liked electric only because they are very, very messy as gas, they are a pain to start, you don't use your good heli starter on these , oil everywhere. but for a beginner i believe they are the best trainer. you can crash over and over and just keep flying. the booms are repairable, don't know anyone who had to replace one, blades are almost indestructable, unless its under 25 degrees, then they are brittle. i did chip one when i hit the barn. it was about 10 degrees that day. also not real good in the wind because they are so light. get one till you can hover and do some basic FF then get something else, they will loop and roll, but not real pretty. |
