hallo again
dave i ll stick in a sentence of yours ''Is your frame the same height as your heli ?'' i messured it before start cutting the alloys and the true is that from the head to the skids i have 47cm and the frame is 32cm so i think there is a 15cm contrast. will it bebe a good height for the mount or not?

Hi

If the mount is 15 Cm less than the Heli then its too tall.

Look at an Airfoil mount picture
You can see the mount is just over half the height of the heli its hanging under.

Another thing is you dont seem to have any rods running from front to rear at the top of the frame on both sides.
You need to have a rod back to front each side up the top in line with the skids, keep in mind they will be strapped to the frame and dont make up part of the frames structure, or shouldnt.

Again look at the commercail mounts you will see those rods there.

Regards
Dave

I did it!!!!!

finnaly without changing anything in my frame i got out and went to the field to fly with the frame installed.
i have to accept that it was to risky for doing it for the 1st time because i flew it by my digy installed on it.(i am crazy others could say that this was stupid... ill stick that i am crazy )

the 1st time a made a hover in about 30 feet and landed

the 2nd time i tried to fly it higher and the true is that it was flying amazing!!!! with no any vibration.

the 3rd time it was the same with the 2nd one except that when i land it while i was trying to cut the throttle in the stick it had a vibration in the hole frame i supose that this came from the height of the mount...
also i realized that i have to make some exact changes in the mount to be more stable

dave and aggelos you where right about the height of the hole frame but sometimes you have to be risky... as i allready told you before you have to make mistakes to learn

next monday i ll try to post some pictures

everything went ok and i am very happy with it

regards
john

Glad to hear it went OK John

Much of what we tell you, you will note yourself when flying it.
On the vibration, if you can visually see it with your eye, then the camera will see it a whole lot worse.

There is to be at least no visible vibration at all in the mount when it off the ground.
Spooling up and down most will shake a bit and you cant do much about that, not that it matters.
Your getting there, reduce height and put those top rods to the fore and aft cross rods so you have a square frame of rod up top of the legs instead of just from one side to the other...that will stiffen things a bit more.

Cheers

dave hallo again
forgot to write u about the rods... i am not sure what u mean exactly and to be more specific:

(top rods to the fore and aft cross rods so you have a square frame of rod up top of the legs instead of just from one side to the other...that will stiffen things a bit more.)

is there any foto that u can upload here or send it as an prv messg? just to see what u mean sorry but tried to find on the dictionary about the rods and i am not sure what u mean exactly!!!!

regards john

Blazek:

Yes, that's pretty close - my grandfather shortened the name when he came to the US, the approximate translation was "the man who lit the fire that fired the canon", and old warrier name!

Take some shots of the Olympic venues, that will be great! My uncle is producing the Olympics for NBC and is over there now getting things organized.

Hi all.

I have to admit that John (blazek) did a very good job for a first timer.
and I wasn't expecting when he announced me he is going to build a mount by himself that he would perform so good.

Bottomline is that he is very excited about this and he transfered this excitment to me as well.

John can wait to do this again

Good job John

Pics look ok, a little fuzz (blur) there but that may be slow shutter with the low light.

The rods I spoke of before, they go under the skids in line with the skids, but as part of the frame to stiffen the top of the frame (square it).
Look at a pic of an Airfoil mount if you need to see what I mean.

Cheers.

blazek: Great shots, I hoping to have shots as good when I first start shooting aswell.

I am thinking I should be ready to shoot in about 3 weeks.

I have the Airfoil mount on the way, I am currently building the Voyager 50 E.

Great shots!!

it was my 1st flame-out and hopefully i had not my mount installed...
we where out with SPB (sotiris) having fun with our toy's when i had a flame-out in my OS 70 and i was outside of the area of the field and the heli start going down straight ahead to the trees...anyway the damage was not 2 much...but we had and our second aerial fotos wich are inda house....enjoy them....

My comment. EISAI KOLOFARDOS

You are a huge huge huge lucky bastard.

Nobody has a flame out at 300 feet the heli crashes into the woods (to describe these woods is better to use the word labyrinth we are lucky that we found our way back home John) he finds the heli in these trees and the most amazing almost intact.

My first thought when I show the heli falling was "we will never find it if it will fall over there." Seconds later I heard John saying "we lost it for ever."

We both start running as the sun was declining and it would be impossible to locate the heli w/out light. The first surprise was that we went straight to place where the heli was lying and the most amazing that it was almost intact. Not even the boom was damaged, the SABs were like new.

The only casualties a broken fan casing and the collective servo horn!!!!!!!!

I have to admit that John (blazek) tryed his best to auto the heli and he did it quite well considering that the wind was strong enough.

Well done John.

BTW we really took some nice shots didn't we?
