Easist manuver is a loop. Just pull back and let the machine do all the work. Just give your self some altitude.

Did some stall turns for the first time today in strong winds. SCARY! Don't know what to recommend first though. I haven't tried loops. Although stall turns are, IMHO, are easier in RealFlight then loops.

I just started doing loops, but I've been doing stall sturns for a while now. I think they are a lot easier to do than a loop. Just be real high and get going pretty fast. Then pull up until it's vertical, then kick the tail around. You can pull up real soon or let it fall a little before pulling out. My first loop went OK. I had to use idle up1 in order to make them real big and nice. Just be comfortable flying circuits in either direction before you attempt either one.

i have to agree with this one . had no problem doing stall just ,started high bank turns then decreased the turns till its vert. the first loop i tried , the engine was not running right and started to do a stall turn and held aft a little long , came out of the loop with no power ,,, forgot to flip the switch also ...extremly hard landing end results

"a little search goes along way" and "copy and paste" works just as well.

Stall Turns

Stall turns are pretty easy , Pull up smoothly till the helo is vertical. pulling up sharply will cause you to loose momentum. Mid way through the pull up start reducing you pitch to near zero (or you'll be flying across the sky sideway) and let your momentum carry you up. Just prior to you upward momentum ends start excuting your turn. On your way down start adding up pitch and up elevator (smoothly) and exit level. I had a minor problem with 540's until someone told me to start the turn's prior to running out of uppward momentum. After doing that I had no problems, You actually finsh your turns just as it starts to decend and your pointed down.

I agree with Jack_R30. I think that the information on your web page is very useful for beginners. It would be very interesting if you include more maneuvers like loops, piro-eigths, inverted flight, etc.

I suppose that you have to include the information step by step so I'll be waiting for more maneuvers.

Loops are the next maneuver in the lessons followed by rolls. Inverted is most definately on the list, but I am trying to provide the lessons in a sequence that I believe they should be learned (ie walk before you run). I'm trying to stress the importance of quality execution of the maneuver rather than 'banging the sticks'.

I found stall turns and then stall piro way easier than a loop. Of course once you do the loop you realize how easy it is. My first roll brought me within a few feet of the ground inverted and extremely close to a major rebuild. Then I tried some flips and held negative for a while and then lots of flips. Wow flips seemed easer than loops and rolls. This is all in one day and of course on my last flight I was having so much fun with flips, loops and piros I ran out of fuel. My first complete auto. Landed no damage so a change of underware and home I went. Lucky for me the day before I praticed auto entries for about two hours. Never once did I flip the switch just took it up in normal pulled the stick back to idle with -3.5 on the bottom and got a feel for the decent rate.

If you can't auto yet instead of stall turns and loops you should pratice autos

I recommend a stall turn because it gives you a taste of what heli looks like in an unusual attitute. Also, you don't have to go and do a straight up full 90 degree stall turn with 540 degree priouettes and then pull out inverted 2 feet off the deck on your first try. Enter the stall turn at about 45 degrees or so and when the heli stops, turn the tail and fly the opposite way you came and level out. Its sort of like a chandelle, but it is a stepping stone to stall turns. Then as your confidence builds, you can increase the angle more and more till the heli is vertical. Its a trip when you finally get them and you'll love them a lot. Its a very gracefull manuever if done right and the heli just seems to sit at the top of the stall turn forever sometimes.

A loop is a little harder in that the heli is going into a very unusual attitute and if you've never done a stall turn before then you probably aren't very comfortable at looking at your heli that way. Yes you can yank back on the stick and maybe make a loop or a hole in the ground too because you get spooked and loose orientation. Gradually increase your confidence with the heli and I think stall turns are a very good first aerobatic manuever. Loops and rolls should follow after your confidence is up in unusual attitudes.
