Over here in Germany they are a wanted machine. The manufacture is a small place and he only sells to individuals. No store carries this machine on the shelf.

Finding them in the states through a distributor might be difficult considering how this machine is sold over here. I also know there is a waiting list.

I bought one from Revolution Hobbies in the UK. I had them supply the blades, servos (9206's only) and the carb and an OS91 FX-HGL, etc. They will supply the engine with the CC crank installed and the CW crank as a spare so you can use the engine for some other heli. The workmanship is second to none. Look at www.henseleit.com for info. He has both English and German on the site. There is a complete rundown of what you will need and what he recommends. Based on what I've seen I would buy another one. I have not flown it yet so I can't say how is flies. But there is an article in MHW and they thought a lot of it and said it was extremely stable but would do anything in 3D. Apparently it's the equivelant to a pattern plane in the airplane end of RC. It's fast, smooth, stable and goes where you point it. That's what I was looking for and I can't wait to get her up and flying.

Note: The prices you see on the Revolution Hobbies site have a VAT (Value Added Tax) of 17.5% in them. To get a close approximation of the actual cost multiply the price by .85 and multuply that figure by the value of the British Pound. A few days ago it was about 1 British Pound was worth $1.44 US dollars.

My friend ordered one from Revolutionmodels, as they expected a shipment late this month. We have been in contact with Jan Henseleit who manufactures these helis, and he has a waiting list of approx. 5 to 6 months. '

If you're willing to wait a bit longer, Minicopter is coming out with a new nitro heli called the Acrobat. It will be a .91.

For those of you who aren't aware of Minicopter -- they make the electric .60 sized Joker Heli. I have one and the quality is superb. Minicopter and Henseleit share the patent on the MFS rotorhead. I would expect the Acrobat to be on par with the Rocket.

I have been dealing with Chris at Revolution models UK and he has put together a complete package with everything needed except radio gear. He is expecting the shipment on May 4 and will ship mine on the May 7. The shipping time is expected to take 7 seven days. By the way, every thing (blades, engine, pipe, header, special carb, etc.)even including the shipping cost the total price is just a little more than a discounted Vigor CS. Look out JR!!!!!!!!!

I bought the complete package from Chris a month or so ago. Check out the prices on the 9206 servos. You should save $20 to $25 each over the standard Futaba price here in the US. Packaging is the same and everything as we buy here.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Squirrel: I too was looking hard at the Vigor CS, as well as the DNHP, which our local heli dealer sells. There's pros and cons either way. I think the Henseleit is a very well engineered heli, and certainly more unique than the Vigor or DNHP. I like the DNHP, but it's still not a Henseleit. The only factor that is an unknown, is what the parts cost for a crash rebuild for the Henseleit. My guess is that it's not inexpensive. Without a complete parts list with pricing, it's hard to know. My biggest concern is availability of parts when needed, and the cost of them.

Sam: Do you have yours flying yet? Are you as impressed as everyone else with the quality? How are the assembly instructions? I'm trying to talk our local heli dealer to become the U.S. distributor for these, as it would sure be nice to have "local" U.S. support for parts. I'm inclined to buy the heli from Revolution, and the balance of the components from GR8 Lakes RC in Milwaukee. There shouldn't be any reason I can think of that he wouldn't have access to any and all the other required components needed to complete the heli.

Mine is not together yet. I'm actually a novice at flying helis but looking at it on Henseleit's internet site and the write up about the Rocket and pictures in MHW so impresed me that I went off half cocked and bought it. The parts are beautiful. (I am a mechanical sales rep. and sell high end machining. I have never seen better machine work than on the Henseleit.) The instruction manual is quite extensive - over 40 pages plus drawings and even the layout for the windshield paint job. There are 4 pitch and 4 throttle curves supplied with 13 points each. He even includes the fuel tubing and the remote glow plug clip! The head is completely assembled and the clutch lining is glued in. The clutch lining doesn't appear to have a splice in it. It looks like its made out of a tube. I just can't say enough about the quality.

You may have problems getting the OS 91 FX-HGL with CW rotation and the Lotterle carb. here in the US. Check your local hobby shop before you order the kit from Chris.

Squirrel: I have never looked at the Bergen, but I'll visit their site. Generally speaking, my philosophy has been to do business with my local heli shop, GR8 Lakes RC, but he does not carry the Bergen, or obviously the Henseleit. He predominently sells Raptor, Excel, JR, Hirobo, DNHP, and a couple others I'm not thinking of. I've been pitching him on the Henseleit, but he's not sold on the idea. I am very surprised no one in the U.S. has picked up the distributorship.....there must be some reason, which I haven't figured out. After talking with Steve at GR8 Lakes again today, he basically recommended I order everything from Revolution. By the way, have you considered attending the Al Fuchsen Memorial Fun Fly on June 22/23 in St. Charles Illinois? A group of us from Milwaukee are planning on attending. Would you mind sharing with me how the price itemized out. If you don't want to post it here, feel free to email me directly. I send you a separate email after this that you can respond to. Thanks.

Sam: You and I are in the same boat. I'm coming from the same place you are. I've been giving serious thought to a 60/90 size heli, and have been debating which one to get. Along come the articles on the Rocket & Three-Dee, and I'm really impressed. The Rocket seemed too "one purpose", but I like the Three-Dee as a second heli. I now fly the Raptor 30 pretty much stock. I asked about the instruction manual, because if you look at a Raptor manual, it's a joke to use that to assemble a Raptor, unless you've assembled many other helis in the past, and know and understand the proper sequence for assembly. I bought the assembly tape, and it's VERY helpful on how to assemble the Raptor 30. Somewhere else, someone said how good and thorough the manual was.

If you note my reply to squirrel above, your comment on buying the OS 91, carb, etc. all from Revolution is valid. Steve at GR8 Lakes said he really didn't have easy access to a special engine and carb like that, as well as the manifold and pipe. He said if I decided to order the heli, to get virtually everything from Revolution. Did you do that also? What did you pay?

It's not like there's going to be anyone around who knows alot about this heli, although I imagine someone with alot of experience setting up helis would probably not have a problem.

The manual is very complete. You should not have any questions. All of the stuff that could pose a problem has been assembled at the factory. (The head is completely assembled as well as some other items.) He even goes at great length to tell you how to assemble the fuel tank! The clutch is done so you don't have to worry about a good bond or the clearance. You will not have any trouble.

I emailed Chris and he said he has a very complete inventory of spares for the 3D NT. He did not, however, send me a price list.

The only problem with flying model aircraft/helis is there are only two kinds. Those that will crash and those that have.

Sam,

Thank you for your assembly manual review. I got a grin out of your comment at the end of your reply about crashing and going to crash. I used to be involved in a much more expensive hobby....racing Porsches. The saying about racing was virtually identical....when you race cars, there are two types of drivers, those who have crashed, and those that are going to crash. Much like helis, it's not always the pilots fault in racing either....sometimes you're a victim of circumstances, which is why I quick racing (at least for now...). I was involved in a situation where a car some distance in front of me blew his engine going into a high speed curve, and blew oil all over the track. When I hit the curve, I was on glare ice, and was then along for the ride. After bouncing off a cement barrier on the inside of the curve, ended up out in the middle of a field on the opposite side of the track (I was probably going 80+ mph into the curve). $36,000 later my car was put back together, and I sold it, my racing trailer, etc. and got out of racing. That's a bigger hit than I really ever wanted to expose myself to again, at least without a much, much greater net worth than I currently have. I guess in a much smaller scale it would be like crashing a new Henseleit, a few weeks after getting it. Someone I emailed back and forth to at one point on these, said not too long after he had his Henseleit he crashed it due to a servo failure or some other mechanical failure. I'm not sure which makes you feel worse, pilot error or mechanical failure? I'll stay in touch, and please do also.
