Woulden't that be cool to incorporate the gyro and servo all in one unit. You could design your model to have the t/r servo/gyro unit mount right up next to the main gear for optimum sensing. What got me thinking about this is the small size of the Gy401. It would simplify installation, and you would have less wires. Just one from the rx to servo/gyro. To bad I am not an electronics person, I could build one and pattent it. If you make it big on my idea, thanks for letting me in on the cut. Who knows, it may have already been done.

It wouldn't work any better right under the mainshaft than it would six inches away from it. It diffenitly would work better six inches from the main shaft if that area had less viberation. It does sound like a good idea until you realize that you lose a lot more tail servos than gyros. If the servo part went down, you would have both down, instead of just putting on another servo and flying again.

Good point Dyehard, but by the time this "new" invention gets to market it will be $29.95, so we will all have a couple of spares "in stock" to change out at will!......hehehe.....

$29.95 for a 401/9253 in one package! I'll take five. Years ago, several radio manufacturers made "bricks", a receiver and a couple of servos in common housing. It sounded good in theory, until one of the servos or the reciever when out. Most people would rather have the ability to switch components out. However, at $29.95!!

Maybe you could make it a complete unit with sub assemblies. The servo and gyro plug into each other, and screw together to become one unit. Then if one part of it goes bad, just swap it out.

So you don't get any better sensing of the gyro 6 inches away from the main shaft hugh, bummer. There goes the sales pitch right out the window. Oh well.
