I need your help to set up an area for helicopter hovering at an established flying field. It came up at our last club meeting that we need an area for newbies to hover in so that we can avoid "traffic problems" over the runway. How big should the hover zone be? What is the best way to define the area? Like the guide from AMA should there be two areas one at each end of the runway. How do you decide which end to use, Wind, mutual agreement or both at the same time? Is the hover area adjacent to the runway or is there buffer no fly zone? IMO this area will only be used for hovering, forward flight will be over the runway. Thanks for your time.
