Radio - Servo - Gyro - Gov - Batt > Hitec HS-605MG servo for collective?

Hi,

I am assembling a Sceadu 50 and plan to use Hitec 525 for the tail, HS-605MG for the collective and Futaba 148s (come with the radio) for the others.

Now I just read somewhere that the 605 has some problem with the centering, could it be a problem? Should I keep it or exchange it for an HS-545BB (or MG), which has less torque, but said to be more precise?

Thanks in advance for the advise,

IMHO, do not use the 605 in any format in a helicopter, it WILL fail and possibly crash you. The 545 is a wise choice over the 605 for a decent servo with fairly good power and good centering, the 525 is also a good servo. Listen to the warnings and leave the 605's alone. I have some 545's in a scale Jet Ranger X-Cell 60 on cyclic and they do a great job.

Thanks for the advise, I exchanged the 605 to a 545BB yesterday.

The assembly manual (on the additional pages) says that servos with 6kg or higher torque and additionally with metal gear for the pitch should be used for the Sceadu50.

I use the Hitec 545BB (4.4 kg), HS-525BB (3.4?kg) and the standard Futaba 148s (3.3 kg), all of them are non-metal gear.

Would it be ok? What is behind of it?

Personally, I would say that you will be OK with the 545's. I have trusted them to cyclic and ( I just looked ) on collective of a 13.5 pound scale Jet Ranger (X-Cell 60) with no problems. You might want to ask specifically in the Hirobo forum about the torque specifications/ requirements of the Sceadu and move possibly to a JR 4131 or Futaba equivelent.
The 525 on the tail will be OK too if the gyro likes it (it is pretty darned fast). As most will probably tell you, there are more powerful servos to be had, but the Hitec 525 and 545's will get the job done. They are pretty good.
I"m just glad that you are not using the 605's!
