JETCAT FREE TURBINE

Anyone have any information on the Jetcat free turbine unit that is in the works?
How close is it to getting released ?

When I bought my Jetcopter about a month ago, Joe Howard said sometime about mid-year this year. Speaking for myself, I am quite anxious to see this turbine because of the possibilities performance-wise it will offer. You might want to contact Joe and see if he has further details.

I don't think you will see it until sometime next year, Jetcat Germany is putting that project on hold for now and concentrating on their new P200.

I think this unit will be good ,Simon Peckam of SPS fame has joined Jetcat and I think the new Jetcat unit will be a derivative of his old SPS unit .We will have to wait and see

I understood SPS basically assembled the wren and their developed free turbine gearbox or something along those lines and when he did the move to jetcat wren cut off all links and with that I would potentially say warned his new empolyer/partner not to copy the free turbine design they were developing together.

I have heards rumours and gossip but I would assume neither wren or jetcat are big enough to fight this in court

Has anyone had any close encounters with a free turbine unit?
If so could you compare its strengths and weaknesses to the HP5?

I know that the HP5 will get very hot when trying to turn a large disk while the free turbine unit will not from what I am told. Truth or fiction?

I wish I had a buck for every rumor about whats going on at the skunk werks facility at JetCat Germany ! The JetCat free turbine uses the P-160 turbine wheel as the power turbine, the gas producer is the JetCat P-60. The P60 is going to be ready In German April ! If you dont know what German April is , dont ask because you dont have time to wait for the answer. So now you have an Idea of when the free helicopter turbine mechanics will be ready. I would not say the heli mechanics are on a back burner, there next to all of all the projects that are in the works like the 30 turbo prop units being built now. As for the free turbine being able to turn a given rotor diameter at a lower temp than the HP5 I would not expect a dramatic difference in the TOT. DISCLAIMER} THESE SPECULATIONS ON MY PART ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.

Hi turbine droop,

The free power turbine that you designed looks distinctively like the wren Interstage and spider housing to me but with a different gearbox!!! Please correct me if I am wrong. Unless of coarse it is in the Jet ranger??

The exhaust Temp stays relatively the same on the gas gen engine from 120,000 to 160,000 around the 450-550 mark which is well within guidlines. With the added bonus of being more economical on fuel.
