What a nice day..... sigment for tornadoes... IFR down to 400 feet, direct crosswinds @ 14kts.. Right engine mags AFU... on and on and on it went.. But when the FAA guy says, "Were going" YOU GO! Last landing.. I got the handshake and he taxied it back in while I was looking for my pack of smokes.... Now its time to do some sailing tonight with Mr. Captain Morgan!

I hear of a charter service in vegas thats hiring low time multi guys like me for 13bucks an hour flying twin otters... I would need a few more hours in a twin... (nothing I couldnt buy) and skipping the CFI/II road... so I am taking a few weeks off from school to think about this one and get my sceadu back up in the air... my school wants about 10K for CFI and another 5K for CFII.... hell, for 15K I can buy a TON of multi-time in a local FBO's Duchess then start sending out the resumes'.... Whats your take on this hair brain idea seneca??? Know of some little charter service that I could be they're whore for awhile to build some time.... I went from zero ratings to commercial/single/multi and instrument in about 7 months... TT ~250.. F.E. time 1500 (gear up time)
is there a job out there for me??

Time building

Jag,
Everybody I ever talked to was doing CFI work to strictly hit that magic 1000 TT hour mark.
If you can do it I would get the CFI and then MEI and beg for all the multi students you can.
If you can get enough time to get picked up flying those Otters though it may be worth it.
However I would be leary of a company hiring low time guys for Twin Otters. Sounds like a "time building" deal to me. Twin Otters are not cheap and I would bet it is Grand Canyon tour work. You know the kind where they offer you a "job" sitting right seat then you have to pay back so much for the time.
I have seen a few Turbine time adds in the mags for deals like this.

And 10k for a CFI? That is NUTS! Especially since they are going to generously offer you a job after you pay them that kind of money.

That's great on the multi-engine rating. Who's buying the beer.

I flew with Lake Mead Air doing the Canyon tours and taking the river runners up and down the ditch. They flew C172, C206 and C207's. They helped me build time to entertain the twin motor jobs. I think they are still in business. They are located at Boulder City, NV. I had a couple of friends who flew for Scenic Airways, and Las Vegas Air. Scenic has the twin Otters, and Las Vegas Air had the C402's. Scenic Airways would be the way to go, if you have the multi time.

Jagboy,
You should be able to get the CFI/II ratings a lot cheaper, shop around. Some operators (mostly corporate) like to see instructor time, so yer damned if ya do, damned if ya don't there. I instructed in 80-82, but the money was (still is) poor. A few guys I use for right-seaters don't have the instructor ratings, unfortunately it shows. Good luck.
(12K and counting.)

I might not be very good, but I'm fun to watch.
