| IF u get into 3d, than your setup will eventually be with upright hover at 5/8 to 3/4 and inverted hover at 1/4 to 3/8. Some say learn with 3/4 stick hover, but I agree that it is a little sensitive for the "newbie".
There is no right or wrong, but try like 1/2 to 5/8, and u can make ur curve smoother and less sensitive. It will be a while b4 u need that 3/4 hover, and by that time, u should be a very capable pilot and should adjust easily to the change in hover position.
For years the normal was a 1/2 stick hover and than switch (while flying) to 3d curve which had hover in different spot, which was never a problem for most. The downside was when u switched curves you had to have close to full collective or u would see the helicopter jump.
