| Hi all
I am rebuilding a GS 550 from 1978 and I took the head in to have valve seats recut, four helicoils, cleaned and skimmed. It's costing probably more than the bike is worth but it is another hobby. Problem I've got now is they have phoned me and said they have done the valve seats, helicoiled the plug holes, ( one broken plug needed drilling out ), and now they've come to skim the head it needs 25 thou off and they think that is too much. Does anybody know the limits from new and how to check them ? I'm sure I'll be charged for the work already done even if the head is U/S. It maybe should have been skimmed first ?
I'll try e-mailing Suzuki Japan but there are loads of clever people here so hopefully I can sort this out.
