| Bigfish. The number one cause of bearing failure is lack of lubrication. Buy a "Greaser" from Pete'sRc(www.petesrc.com) and grease your bearings with a grease marked with EP( extreme pressure).Any quality synthetic automotive wheel bearing grease will be of this type. Make sure when you lube the new bearings that all the original grease is forced out. The stuff that is in the bearing is not grease for lubrication purposes, but a very light duty grease that is used to hold the balls in location during assembly of the bearing, and to prevent oxidation. When I've crashed my Raptor and the spindle or mainshaft was bent, I'll always replace the upper bearing and check the lower for damage. Doesn't take much of a hit to dent the inner bearing race, only to cause a bearing failure later. |
