Peter65,

"Here's a thought. Since he was a newbie, maybe he didn't know there was a search option?"

That is why he was informed that there is Search.

I do not see anything wrong in the way in which he was told he can do a search. If he did educate him the wrong way is there a right way?. Your analogy is far from what was discussed.

Actually JB, I wasnt informed at all. I am the sole reason who so many people are spending so much time tonight critiquing.

I must be very popular all of a sudden. I might not be here tommorrow, but I stand for what I believe in. You guys are really really being too whiny about a simple question. The whole issue is moot.

You hypocrites spent more time tonight educating me on how to use the 'search' button then you did actually offering any useful, and meaningful advice, which leads me to believe you didnt have any to begin with.

Someone actually told Mark Ryder on me, as if I was being corrected by a parent.

How uncouth, and downright immature.

You have molded quite a consortium of rule sticklers and hypocrites.

For what its worth.

hehehehe Now I see we spent the evening talking about using Search here in RunRyder. I do not think we have any Lives. If we had to explain this to our Wives/Girlfriends/Mistreses how could we?. More than likely they do not like our $$$$ hobby anyways and then we spend the night/day away from them talking about this.
Did whomever asked the question that kicked this off ever get an acceptable answer?

JG-Every post makes you look worse and worse.YOU attacked him.You still can't let it go.Now you want to lump me in as a bad guy.Well I say look up my old posts.I bet 75% of them are in the beginner section.I spend more time fixing and setting up other guys stuff at the field than flying my own.It was not out of line for him to say do a search. He was not the aggressive party. The next post you slammed him.If you get on here long enough you will see the exact same questions repeated over and over.Rather than retype the same two page answer(from last week) over again,he advised a search.Big deal.Get over it.......Welcome to RR,lets get this behind us now. Anyone who has seen me try not to help newbies can feel free to bash me.

IMHO the line "give search a try" is BS. If you take the time to post a response, do a search and post a link to the search you performed. After all you knoiw exactly what to look for. The other option would be to not post anything at all and soon enough the topic creator will try something different because he/she is being ignored. Either they will try search or call all RR members dirtbags. Then tell them the ettiquitte of the search function.

I appreciate your kind thoughts and words. After all, your opinion matters the most to me here out of everyone else.

Since you took the time to actually answer my original question, and not criticize me.

Oh wait a minute, that wasn't you, it was all in my head.

Ill go and search for your previous posts.

Oh wait, nevermind. Sore subject.

wow

Man all you guys are way bent out of shape over this. Here is my 2 copper after reading this entire bloody thread;

JG just asked a simple newbie question, he did not do anything wrong at all.

Also, my personal opinion is that the search function can be very useful and sometimes not so useful. Maybe JG did use the search function but decided to ask the question again anyway. Do we all need to put disclaimers on the bottom of our posts letting people know we already searched RR but found the information a bit outdated, in fear we might get repremanded my mean spirited people? I really hope not. We are all adults here... Well most.. Anyway.

The people I have met in this hobby have been great and I hate to see it sink so low as it sometimes does with threads like these.

Other than that the way this tread has been carried out so far is dumb and a waste of bandwidth. Give it up yall, we are all human. No big deal.

I propose a new way for newbies and experienced people to work this situation out.

here's what I think RunRyder should do. Create a new section called FAQ/Articles. Then there should be FAQ for every situation depending on your helicopter, and stuff like this:

1. How do I wire batteries on Starter.

2. What is the best engine for Raptor, Caliber.

3. What blade size is best for this

4. 4.8v or 6v battery to use?

5. How do I program a 9CHP?

So yes, somebody should now start and take the time to make ONE HUGE FAQ that will practically answer most newbie question and also basic question. It would help many people a lot instead of having to click and search and read each situation cause sometimes the topic ends up being too narrow or too broad when you read the questions.

This thing is spinning out of control. It's like a bunch of people arguing about what to argue about.

And it's getting more and more twisted by people who may not be fully comprehending what they read.

Here is the very first reply to JG's post in question by Optech:

Quote

This has been hashed out many-a-time already. Use the search function and you'll get plenty of reading.

Mike

There was nothing in there about letting anything "slide," nor were there any threats on any level. In fact this was the only tactful thing written in any of the now three threads on this subject.

When Optech typed the words "let that one slide" it was in response to an uncalled for remark made by JG. And again, very tactful on the part of Optech. How did that get taken so far out of context?

When I read what Mike first said, I see at best some good advice and at worst a friendly and tactful suggestion. JG read it and somehow read something else into it and went off. How can anybody defend that?

Optech said "YOU'LL GET PLENTY OF READING." It's just like the FAQ you see everywhere. Frequently asked questions - all answered in an orderly fashion. It saves everyone time - both the person with the question and the entity the question was posed to.

ITS TIME to make an Frequently Asked Questions! I Want to see one! IT WOULD be so beneficial and it would stem a LOT of should-know and good info. for beginners. JUst think, we can have an FAQ as much as 100 of the most common questions asked with answers!

so who wants to make one?
