Just wanted to introduce myself, as this is my first post to the board...
I've been "lurking" around here for over a month gathering info on the Corona and RC helis in general. I just wanted to thank you guys for your priceless knowledge which helped me to get my first set up. You answered hundreds of questions without even knowing it (I know how much of a PITA newbies can be, as I'm a veteran on several reefkeeping BB's)

I ended up getting a used 120 rtf from the classifieds and went through her with a fine-tooth comb. After ordering a decent radio, charger, batts, and practicing on fms (I'm quite new to RC, never having a *successful* flight on my 3ch electric plane), the maiden hover was made on Valentine's day in my garage (fridgid outside in NY). What a rush!
I'm sure the wife loved hearing all about the experience throughout our entire dinner!

It went amazingly well (flys a lot like the eco8 on the sim), but then the weather got even colder so to satisfy the new itch I made space in our large living room... I've run through 8 charges so far, and still have many hours of "1 foot flying" to do before the confines will become too boring.

I even got a dose of reality as I had to abort from 5' due to a build up of utter-disorientated-confusion which led to a dented boom and some re-assembly time; I guess it's good (looking back) to get a taste early on of what we are dealing with. Amazing how un-intimidating she looks just floating around!

Here's a 1 min video of my second day

Excellent flying for your 2nd day

I know exactly what you mean when you mentioned the "build up of utter-disorientated-confusion"

Sometimes you get so deep into the concentration when your flying your heli that it feels like you're getting sucked into a time warp or something...lol All it takes is a split second of distraction and you lose your concentration. I'm sure the seasoned heli pilots don't battle with this like us newbies do, but I'm sure they know we're talking about

Good luck with your Corona. I have mine about 99% complete. The only thing left to do is to fine tune my servo ATV's and Gyro settings. I'm hoping to take it out for a first flight this weekend.

Later,

Nitro

Hey, neighbor!
No club thing yet, figure I'll wait till I need some real room to fly and companionship in the hobby. I do know a guy in the club who's helped with q's, and do plan to attend the big meet with CY.

So far, this bird has been a blast. Outside the Corona is so quiet compared to inside! Much less stressful as well not worrying about tearing up the furniture... And being forced to maintain a tight hover indoors has paid off outside as well. Today was too windy out so for part of the 2nd indoor flight I strapped my digicam on the LG and let it roll...

Good to hear from a fellow roch person.

where is your "bec" mounted or is free_hanging?

also have you had any binding problems with thw swash plate and linkages, my main rotor spun freely (by hand) until I coneccted and installed the swash plate ass'y, the linkage (no servos connected ) moves up and down, maybe this is normal.

The bec is built into the hacker speed control, which is under the radio.

If you're binding the swash you may have something to tight like the two arms that connect to the teeter bar. I'm by no means an expert, but if you want me to take a look this weekend lemme know. I'm in N. Penfield/Webster area.
