Put the new nicad on the charger for a slow charge and it finished after only putting 43mAh in

So put it in heli and started to spool up and it the motor stops at about half throttle, so I thought it had'nt charged. Put it back on charger and it's only put 39mAh's in and charger is reading 15.97v is it charged ok

These are my settings using 18.46K, 9CHP and I'm getting double beep on start up at full throttle and single beep at low throttle.

Norm TH Curve is 0,0,60,60,60 aslo tried 0,0,50,75,100
Idle 1 70,70,70,70,70
Idle 2 75,75,75,75,75
Hold 0

ESC Settings are
1-off
2-on
3-on
4-off
5-on
6-off

B50-11L

Is this right

You should get a single beep at idle (with stick in low position) and a double beep if it's at full throttle.

I would say your charger is false peaking.

How many cells are you using and what charger?

Cheers, Hayden.

Yes, that sounds right, but I usually plug mine in at low stick (idle), so I only have one beep after the confirmation tune.

It’s defiantly false peaking and not charging it. If it's a new pack, why are you discharging it? Just slow charge it at C/10 (240mAh) for 10 hours for the first time. I get around 18 - 18.5v for a full charged pack, when I fast charge my 12 cell GP3300mAh.

Cheers, Hayden.

I tried charging it at 0.3a and it puts about 40mAh in it and stops charging

What mode are you using? If it's in auto peak detect, then choose a manual mode if possible and set it to 200 - 240mAh and charge for 10 to 11 hours.

My orbit will false peak if it has a bad connection, too thin or long charge leads.

You want to have at least 80% curve in standard mode (non-Gov) for hovering, as the ESC will overheat with a lower setting than this.
I'm using the following curve settings:

Norm: 0, 80, 80, 80, 80.
idle1: 85, 85, 85, 85, 85.
idle2: 95, 95, 95, 95, 95.

I have the C50-13L.

I have the 18.46k set in Gov mode at present with the DIL switches as follows:

1. Off
2. On
3. On
4. Off
5. On
6. Off

I may change it back to standard mode as I've heard they can run cooler in non-Gov mode, so I'm going to try it and see if it is.

Cheers, Hayden.

Do you only have one new pack? Do you have another to try to see if it's only that pack that is stopping too soon.
I have never had a problem, with false peaking with my Logo packs, only with the little AA & AAA RX packs etc.

I have tried it at 0.2a and it seems to be charging ok now, but why wouldn't it charge at 0.3a ?

Difficult to say exactly, there are a number of things that might be causing it. Just keep an eye on it, as it may stop again before it's fully charged.

Most chargers do false peak at low charge rate's, but usually they will over-charge, not under-charge.

It flys but not for very long about 4 mins hovering using 12 2400's B50-11L and 13 tooth pinion.

Power is great really smooth will probably change paddles though to sluggish.

So whats my option's for a decent flight time ? should I change motor don'y really want to.

Simon,
You've chosen a "hot" motor so you will be sacrificing duration for power. What head speed are you running? Four minutes sounds a bit short, but not unreasonably so. Based on the power it takes to hover my Logo 10, predictions say about 5.4 mins. How are your temps after the flight?

My round-cell setup was 14-cell packs of 2600s and 3300s with a Hacker B50-15L, 15-tooth pinion with an 1850 RPM governed head speed. That setup would fly for 7.5 mins. It was not a power house, but was quite adequate for basic aerobatics.

Another key to getting longer flights is that the packs must be HOT off the charger. That's the only way to get their true performance. I had a really hard time getting them hot enough when I was trying to use them in 30ish deg F weather.

Not sure on temps,it was bit chilly out today Pack was warm but esc was cool. I wasn't flying it straight off the charger and pack was not even warm off the charger at 2.4A charge rate. Other option is Lipo but heard this motor won't run on them. Don't want to spend money on say higher capacity cells for and extra 1 min flight, do I splash out on Lipo's

> pack was not even warm off the charger at 2.4A charge rate

Yeah, that won't do it. You need to hit those 2400s with at least 5 A.

> Other option is Lipo but heard this motor won't run on them

It will, you just have to be very carefull about the temps and let you head speed be much higher, more like 2000 RPM. I believe some searching on Logoheli and e-zone will get you those answers.

My Supanova only charges at max of 5A so I will try that, then see if it flys any longer.
