| Some time ago I recieved a message from AOL accont management that my accont information was out of date.
The message apeared to be from AOL complete with the AOL look and feel and almost fooled me into believing that it was real.
The message insisted that they have no current account infomation and that if I didn't submit all my info imediately my account would be terminated. The mail provides a link that takes you to a web site and asks for your user name and password. It then prompts you for account info such as credit card #, add, full name, DOB, alternate credit card #s and even had the balls to ask for your SS#. Having had AOL service for years and never being asked to verify any info before I questoned AOL online help about this message.
They told me that it was a scam to reveal my info and that I should forward it to TOSReports on AOL.
Well the link is now a dead end so I guess they gave up and are on the something new. Please be careful when you are asked for any information on the internet. I'm sure people fall for this crap everyday.
I like the idea of giving false information to these lowlives.
Good luck
I then got another E-Mail from a Billing department.com saying that a computer that I ordered and had already paid for (which I didn't order)
could not be delivered as promised. They offered to refund my money.
Some $2500.00 for a laptop unit with all the bells and whistles.
It too gave a link to click on. -Nice and easy for you.-
And it went on to say that they would only be able to credit my bank account or my credit card and I could chose where I wanted the money to be refunded. The link takes you to a web site that shows an invoice with a picture of a laptop and price. It gives you a choice to click on. Where would you like us to refund your money. It also asks for all the pertainent information.
Don't be fooled into giving up your precious info. |
