Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > Climbout problem

This is a copy of a post int the main discussion posted by a friend of mine. Does anyone have any ideas? Max pitch is now up to 15deg and the climbout is great but , can't get this much on the negative side.

Lets hear it from all the Pros.

Today on a friend's Raptor 50.
OS .50 on 30% CP and hurricane 600s.

The main blade pitch at top end reads +12 degrees as measured on several different pitch gauges.
When you punch out for max. vertical climb, the MR rpms hold a steady 2,000 Rs.

But, the chopper is not climbing out nearly as fast as it used to.
We thought maybe the blades under load were not going to the full 12 degrees.
The collective servo seems to still have plenty of torque and no linkage seemed to be binding anywhere.

Tonight he is pulling MB grips to clean/check/relube thrust bearings and we will do further flight check tomorrow.

Any thoughts from yawl as to what we might be missing?

Thanks for any ideas.

Jeff, Hi. What makes you say that. Is it the thin chord?

You need to perform a stress test on the servo. Hold the collective servo horn and move it fully through its range while you give it some reverse input and see if it is moving smoothly thoughout the range with consistant torque. Flat spots can develope in the pots of the servo's. If the collective servo is a 148, 3003, 507 517 or other "standard" servo change it out for a better quality higher torque servo.

Servo is a 4721 and feels fine. I stressed it pretty well before I made the post. No slop in linkages either. I'm going to order some NHP 600s and give them a try. The 620s I have will not fit because the diamater of the root of the blade is to large and hits the end of the spindle shaft. OH well.... any other thoughts????
