Hey,
I only know of a few places to get Hacker motors, and they seem to be sold out of the C50-13L.

www.helihobby.com

Can anyone tell me of some other good places to get this motor?

Thanks
Tom

If my wife finds out how much these things cost, she's gonna kill me!!!

Hi Tom,

Join the club I've been trying to get a C50-13L, can't find them anywhere in stock. So I've ordered a B50-11L from Cyberheli its a very hot motor and you can't use Lipo's on it, have you thought about a B50-13L ? I expect someone on here has a B50-13L and could say what it's it like.

I received mine (i bought a B50-16XL) promptly (about 6 days or so) and the shipping was only $2.50! I didn't get a heatsink, and shortly after inquiring to them via email, i received an email stating that the heatsink was in the mail. I got it a few days later. All in all, excellent service, from a long way away!

Actually, you can run a B50-11L with Lipo's. Two of us here in Phoenix do without any problems to date. We do limit our flights to about 10-12 minutes each, but have not had any heating problems. This breaks up a pack charge into 2 flights.
We both use the Hacker 48-3P Opto controllers set to the default 2 degree timing, this is critical. The schultze controllers will not go to 2 degrees, they run a 5 degrees which is great for 12 cells of Nimh, but won't work for LiPo as it is too hot. We both have added heatsinks to the controllers (simple computer memory heatsinks) which helps no matter what you type of batteries you use. Governor mode is used and set at 80%. Power is very good with consistant head speeds. Summer will be the true test, but that's hard on any set up. Hope this helps.

Hi Eric,

I will be using Schultze 18.46K esc, can I not use Lipo's with that as you said about the timing ?

Have you ever used 12cell 2400 nicads with the B50-11L (13 pinion)whats the run time like and power as this is what I will be using.

Thanks

Simon.

I was getting about 5 minutes, depends on how hard you fly. Power was good when the packs were new. They have some time on them, so they don't have the punch that they did.
With the Hacker controller, I was using the 5 degree timing which is the hot timing. 2 degree has less power, but gets a longer flight time.

I have no experience with Schulze ESC's, but it seems there are lots of folks out there using them with lipo's.

I do not believe anyone is running a Schultze with a Hacker B50-11L motor. That's why there is a general idea that Lipo can not be run with this combo. The C series should run with fine with the Schultze controllers. When Gary Wright was experimenting with the Lipo's and the B50-11L , the Hacker controllers were not yet available, he was using the Schultze and was having a temperature problem. This is why everone says the B50-11L is "too hot for Lipos." Yes, you should use some caution concerning heat by breaking up a 20 or so minute flight into 2 10 minute flights. The Schultze controller runs great with Hacker motors when using Nimh or Nicads because it is set to 5 degrees. The Hacker controller can be set to 2 degrees which allows the entire system to run cooler. The increase in voltage makes up for the performance drop of the 2 degree setting.
