The nearest policeman to you. What is his/her name? What do they look like? Where are they? Is he/she good at their job? Married? Children? Like their work? Underpaid? Primary goal to make it home at the end of the shift? Could not care less? On the take?

Straight out of the pages of the Gun Lobby manual, if the public and the shopkeeper dont have 12 bores and magnums stuck under there beds the bad guys will need feel the need for a fire fight. I am not a liberal and fully supported the US and UK campaings in the Gulf. I fully believe that military action is justified in many cases and we should arm our troops to the hilt to make sure thay are the biggest and badest on the block. But I do not agree with arming our citizens to the same extent. As I said, you canquote these types pf scenario all day, but the proliferation of guns only leads to further use and further prolifertion. If the guy next door buys a nuke will you buy one too, probably, its human nature. If I dont have a gun my next door neighbour does not feel the need for one either.

Bell430, without the Brits you would never be, without the Brits support in almost all of your causes across the globe you would be fighting the rest of the world. Its because of the respect that is held for the British by the rest of the world that they tolarate some of your madder campains around the world. Otherwise you would be a very isolated country fighting a very hostile world.

I don't usually get worked up about this,but I'm tired of hearing people telling us we need to get rid of our guns. I own 6 guns... 2 shot guns ,3 .22s one of them a hand gun. and a big 22 a 22-250.
They are all hunting guns. I deer hunt,and small game hunt.
I don't carry them to the mall,work,or the gas station. And I don't harm anyone with them.
I'm sorry if you don't like guns. That is your choice.
So please don't tell me I need to get rid of mine.

I don't know where you are getting your statistics from, but the REAL number of childeren (under 16) killed by firearms in 2002 was around 300.. Be careful which liberal US media source you listen to.. Most of those in the 16 to 20 year group who were killed were gang members and as far as I am concerned, that is a good thing..
Ever read the book 1984??? Most of western Europe is just a few years away from this... What will YOU do when your government decides you no longer need to vote??? Remember Hitler??? One of the first things he did was outlaw private ownership of firearms.... In fact, private firearm ownership is one of the reasons that Switzerland didn't get screwed with ... If you don't believe that totalitarian governments will ever exist in the develped world again, you either don't know your history or are extremely foolish...
All this aside, who gives a rats' ass about human life anyway?? There are 6 billion 500 million people in the world and growing... If you gunned down a million a DAY it would take you nearly 20 years to wipe out the population... Personally, I think a few random deaths are worth the security of owning a gun...

To be perfectly honest tailwip, if guns where legal in the UK I would probaly have the biggest armoury in my street, but there not and thats a big relief for me because I can see the damage that they cause, sure more people get killed in car crashes and the rest, but why add to the death toll. Got a feeling this one is going to roll on and on. But hey nothing like starting a good rammy. By the way, I really do like the American system and the American people, just don't agree with the gun bit

The United States is already a lonely nation in a hostile world, We are the only superpower! also when things get heated, like the current world situation, we were the FIRST one to stand up, take definitve action and press on. we had to coax the brits with economic aide and military support in order for them to join in the game.

Bollocks, sorry for strong langauge bit, but we where not bribed with money or military aid from your goverment, you may not have noticed this but the UK is a very wealthy little country with the strongest economy in Europe. We stood by the states because of our sense of loyalty to freinds and our believe that we must stand up and fight the terrorisim. We could have hid in the bushes like a lot of other eurpean countries and saved ourselfs countless millions in increased security costs for our country by making us the number one terror target in Europe, of all the things you could say this more than any other has insulted me and the British Nation.
