Not one to be controversial, but here goes anyway, the pic in this guys Gallery of the old photo is funny but his other two are disgusting in my humble opinion, if this guy walked into a wood anywhere in the UK carrying that thing he would be locked up for five years.
I just do not get the American obsession with guns. Lets get this bit straight, you buy these things to KILL with, end of story, if you want to shoot tin cans or targets you buy a .22 target pistol not a bloody AK47. If you carry a gun you intend to KILL, wether you think you do or not, should you find yourself in a position where you feel threatend you will pull that trigger and possibly end a life. Its just plain crazy and I will never understand it.
I know it part of your constitution that you all have the right to bear arms, but this was written 200 bloody years ago when your fledgling goverment needed all the people it could get to fight for your independance. Now you have a great big bloody army to do it for you and should the goverment feel your shores are threatend by such a massive force that the Army can not handle it, I am quite sure they have enough spare guns lying around to dish them out ( highly unlikely situation to say the least).
For god sake, as a nation put these bloody things in the nearest bin and stop strutting aroung like some demented John Wayne character on steriods.

Outlawing guns does not stop people being shot with them... In the UK pretty much any kind of guns are now banned but we still have a significant problem with guns and gun crime. I think a responsible attitude to use is better than prohibition...

That's my 2 cents.. or is it 2 pence..

Oh -- that's not an AK47 -- it's an AR15. I'm not a "gun nut", and don't own any, but hey -- he's legal and exercising one of the rights of every American. He's probably not obsessed with guns, either. One can own things without having to be obsessed with them.

Hey -- come on over across the pond and get to know this guy -- he'd probably let you squeeze off a few rounds at a target or two. You'd like it.

If you were to read some of the history of the United States you would find that one of the major arguments for guaranteeing the rights of our citizens to bear arms was not based solely on the militia angle, but as one of many checks and balances against a government that could become too overbearing and oppressive. As you may recall, the framers of our founding documents had a revolutionary streak in them (had a big problem with an English fellow named George) -- and they set up a government with LIMITED powers on purpose.

The founding fathers further limited the powers of the federal government with a list of ten basic rights -- called the Bill of Rights. The right to bear arms was one of those ten original basic items. I'm kind of proud of what those people did for us, and for the legacy they left the rest of the world.

And John Wayne was a true, patriotic American. We could use a bunch more of his kind now.

Have a look at the stats fast guy, real criminals, if determined enough will always get a gun if they really want it, but that it far diffrent from the states. If you look at the gun crime rate it makes terrifying reading and will show just how stupid your post is. Some stats.

"In a single year, 3,012 children and teens were killed by gunfire in the United States, according to the latest national data released in 2002." That is one child every three hours. Compare this to 9 deaths in the UK

"Every day, more than 80 Americans die from gun violence"Thats deaths not injuries. The injury figure is 500, yes 500 bloody hundred a day.

American kids are 16 times more likely to be murdered with a gun, 11 times more likely to commit suicide with a gun, and nine times more likely to die from a firearm accident than children in 25 other industrialized countries combined. (Centers for Disease Control).

Yes sounds real snsible, lets have another 30,000 of our citizens wiped out by guns just in case the Goverment decids to ignore the ballot box and trys to take power by force, you can really se that happening. And by the way I studied the american constitution as one of the modules towards my Master Degree.

Wow, I didn't think the british pu$$yfication of the people had reached Scotland yet. Guess I was wrong. I see no difference in shooting a gun that's 22 caliber vs one that is a 50BMG. They all work the same. Oh, the AR is considered a .223 target rifle.
Chimera, you sound like a typical democrat soccer mom here in the US. You are scared of guns and think that owning one will make you run to the nearest school yard and blast away at the kids. This belief is typical of people who have never held or fired a gun and for whom the concept of personal responsibility is foreign. Not unusual in the socialist nanny states of the EU. The stats you quoted are straight from the Anti Gun websites. Have an open mind and find the real statistics from reliable sources.
I didn't buy my AR to kill people. I use it to punch holes in paper, knock over bowling pins and scare clueless liberals who think the world will get together and sing kumbaya songs as soon as all the guns are gone. Just make sure you tell the bad guys about that concept too. If one of those bad guys intends to hurt me, my famly or my loved ones, then "I" will kill them, not the gun, not the bullet, ME.

BTW, I carry a gun when I go flying. My field is the middle of nowhere and vicious animals - four and two legged - tend to show up at times.

Nice AR, Heligood. I'm down to 2000 rounds of ammo so I'll have to get some more and go take my girlfriend shooting on V day.

Fritz

The traffic accident deaths in the US far outnumber gun deaths so let's outlaw automobiles too.

Believe it or not, the ultra left liberal media in the U.S. won't let you know that guns STOP crime too:

Store clerk Nicole Tucker, 21, first noticed the man wandering around Tucker’s Market around 4 p.m. when the store was very busy. He’d said he was looking for a friend. An hour later, when Tucker was alone in the store, the man returned. “I was by myself the second time,” she said. “He confronted me about money, he said, ‘Give me your money or I’ll blow your brains out.’” The man acted as though he had a gun in his pocket. As he came around the counter toward her, his view was momentarily obstructed and Tucker used that to her advantage. She grabbed the gun kept in the store, which stopped the man in his tracks. “He must have seen me with it (the gun) because he took off and ran back out the door. I followed him … I pointed the gun at him, but I never fired,” she explained. Police were on the scene within 30 seconds, but the suspect remained at large. Tucker’s coworker, Doris Clark, praised Tucker’s actions. “The only reason he didn’t get anything was that when he came around the corner, he was facing a gun,” Clark said. “She was a very brave young lady, and I compliment her very much for her bravery.” (Altavista Journal, Altavista, VA, 05/14/03)

A 64-year-old Tacoma, Wash., resident confined to his bed managed to defend himself when attacked by an intruder. He had just heard his wife leave the house when there was a loud bang, and then the back door was kicked in. The homeowner grabbed his gun in one hand and the phone to dial 9-1-1 with the other. That’s when a strange man entered his room, hiding his face with a handkerchief and intoning, “I’m going to get you.” According to the resident, “That’s when I shot him.” The wounded intruder and an accomplice fled, and police alerted area hospitals. The homeowner—who said he’s kept a gun in his home for protection for years, but had not fired it outside the range before the incident—said, “I’m thoroughly convinced this guy would have killed me.” (The News Tribune, Tacoma, WA, 06/03/03)

A Phoenix, Ariz., construction equipment company had been hit by a string of burglaries, so the owners decided to take turns standing guard at night to ward off any more thieves. Early one Tuesday morning Douglas Click, one of the owners at Arizona Hi-Lift, was guarding the company armed with a shotgun. He confronted two men who were stealing items from the equipment yard, and they attacked him with a metal rod, according to Phoenix Police Detective Tony Morales. Click responded by firing at his attackers, and one was fatally wounded. Detective Morales said no charges would be filed against Click as, “he was in fear of his life and he was being attacked.” (The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, AZ, 05/20/03)

A 75-year-old Independence Township, Mich., man was sitting on his couch watching television when he heard a loud noise. The homeowner went to investigate, and as he entered the kitchen he discovered three men coming in his back door, which had been kicked open. There was an exchange of gunfire between the resident and intruders, and the would-be burglars fled. Unfortunately, the man wasn’t able to provide good descriptions of the intruders for police. (The Oakland Press, Pontiac, MI, 05/13/03)

A south Houston, Texas, couple was loading items into their car in front of their home when two young men approached them and struck up a conversation. The woman said the men made her uncomfortable, and she immediately backed away from them. She noticed that as one man kept talking the other was moving behind her husband and kept his hand deep in his pants pocket. The woman ran inside and called 9-1-1 and then looked out her front window. One of the men now had a gun pointed at her husband’s head. She then ran into another room and picked up a gun just as the second man burst into her house. He came straight at her, and she fired the gun, striking him in the arm. The wounded man ran from the house, shouting to his partner that he’d been shot. The nefarious duo then ran off in opposite directions. Police had the two 16-year-old suspects in custody within minutes. (Southwest News, Bellaire, TX, 05/13/03)

When two armed men entered the Beyond Wireless phone store on East 38th Street in Indianapolis in an apparent robbery attempt, store manager Earl L. Dixon Jr. pulled out a gun. He then fired at one of the armed suspects, fatally wounding him. Dixon said when the two men entered and drew guns, “I thought I was going to die,” so he dropped down and retrieved a gun he kept at the business and fired two or three times at the men. Indianapolis Police Detective Bob Flack investigated the shooting and said Dixon’s actions were justified. “Weapons were pointed at him … and he defended himself,” Flack stated. Why does this reaction not surprise me, great big democratic country with complete freedom of speech, just don't speak or criticise us if you are not American or we will come stomp on your country. Is it any wonder your foreign policy is down the pan.

Some more?

Because of the terribly slanted nature of the "news" you only hear about cases where guns are used illegally by criminals or to harm innocent people. You never hear about the multitudes of cases whereby the use of a firearm by a law abiding citizen saved lives or protected the innocent. Studies indicate that firearms are used more than 2 millions times a year for legal personal protection, and that the presence of a firearm, without a shot being fired, prevents crime in many instances. Shooting usually can be justified only where crime constitutes an immediate, imminent threat to life, limb, or, in some cases, property. We can all do our part to help educate a dumbed down society, if you see a newspaper account of a firearm used by a citizen in this manner then you can send it to: "The Armed Citizen,11250 Waples Mill Road, Fairtax, VA 22030-9400.

A 73-year-old St. Louis County, Mo., man looked up from his television one night to see an armed man holding 4" shears to his wife's throat. The intruder had broken into the couple's basement through a window and tied a curtain around his face as a mask. The man grabbed the homeowner's wife when she came downstairs and forced her into the living room where he demanded money from her husband. The homeowner managed to keep his wits about him and told the bandit that he needed to retrieve his wallet from the bedroom. He returned instead with a gun and, as his wife pulled away, shot her captor. The man was able to pull the woman outside with him, but finally succumbed to his wounds and collapsed. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch, St. Louis, MO, 11/20/03)

Jeff Pantzer of Stuart, Fla., was awakened in the night by the sound of blinds rattling. Someone had broken in just five months previously, and Pantzer now kept a shotgun just in case. He took up his gun and fired as he saw a man's legs enter his window, scaring the would-be burglar right out of his shoes. "My safety was my first consideration," Pantzer said. "It was real quick, he was halfway in the window ... I fired, and he exited the window at the same time ... ." The suspect was not apprehended, but police say he may be linked to four similar burglaries in the area. (The News, Stuart, FL, 11/27/03)

A Salem, Mass., resident learned what a great deterrent owning a gun can be. The resident called police, not to report being a victim of a crime, but to say that he discovered a man "all dressed in black" trying to break into his home. The resident aimed his gun at the would-be intruder, who decided to cut his losses and run. (The Salem News, Salem, MA, 11/28/03)

Two armed men burst into a Coatesville, Pa., home and demanded money from the two occupants in the living room. One of the armed invaders went up to the master bedroom and threatened to shoot or beat the couple in bed if they didn't hand over some money. The man in bed, identified as Omar Reid, grabbed a pistol from the nightstand drawer and shot the robber just as he shot at Reid. With one intruder down, Reid then raced down the stairs where he encountered the second man and they exchanged fire. The second home invader fled the scene. Reid was not injured during the gunfire. The wounded invader was taken to the hospital. (Daily Local News, Westchester, PA, 11/7/03)

When Judy Abram had her sisters over to play dominoes, a man walked up to the house and attempted to break through Abram's living room window. She yelled at the man to leave, but he continued corning in the window. Abram then ran to her bedroom and returned with a pistol. She aimed it at the home invader saying, "Can't you see I have a gun? Get out of here!" The intruder continued 10 advance on her so she fired at him, emptying her gun. Suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, the home-invader then went to a neighbor's house, where he crashed through the living room window and collapsed. He was pronounced dead at the scene. (San Antonio Express- News), San Antonio, TX, 11/03/03)

A Freeport, N.Y., woman has her boyfriend and his brother to thank for rescuing her from a rapist. First Squad Det. Lt. Andrew Fal of Nassau, N.Y., reported that the suspect was believed to have been hiding in the basement of the home for some time. When the woman's boyfriend left for work, the intruder hid his face with a surgical mask and went upstairs. He attacked the woman in her bedroom, punching her repeatedly in the face, and then tried to rape her. The boyfriend's brother, who also lives in the home, heard the commotion and thought his brother was having a fight with his girlfriend. He called the brother on his cell phone to see what was going on, and when his brother told him he was driving to work, the two realized the woman was in real trouble. The brother called the police and retrieved a 9 mm pistol. The woman's boyfriend returned to the house where he and his brother confronted her attacker, holding him at gunpoint until authorities arrived and placed her attacker under arrest. (Newsday, New York, NY, 11/22/03)

A Madison County, Miss., woman shot and killed her attacker during a home invasion. The woman had answered her door late one evening when a man armed with a gun forced his way inside. "He physically assaulted her," reported Madison County Sheriff Toby Trowbridge. The homeowner managed to pull her gun just as her attacker drew his. The home invader, shot in the abdomen, ran from the house and collapsed in the driveway, according to police reports. A suspected accomplice drove away in a car and has not been located. The homeowner was taken to the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to her side, and was reported to be in stable condition. (Clarion- Ledger, Jackson, MS, 12/02/03)

Well bloody all right then chimera.

lets get this straight first rifels and pistols dont kill people, people kill people!

If laws had more teeth to them you would see a drop in all of those numbers that you found and by teeth I mean if you comit a crime with a firearm and kill some one you atomaticaly get the death penalty, if you comit a crime with a firearm and don't kill someone you get life in prison with no chance of parole.

But that would be to harsh for most to agree with so I will still protect myself the best I can, be it avoid the situation all together (my number one choice) or by the use of force (my last choice)

The guys with proper permits for there fire arms are not the one commiting crimes with them......think about this for a second

notice that all the places gun crimes happen are places that do not allow guns (i.e.) post offices, schools, fast food place...

if it were up to me every....LAW ABIDEING CITIZEN would own a gun.

safety....more children die every year by drowning then by guns although good luck finding the stats on it because no one is trying to have swimming pools shut down

its the american way bigger is better.....just cause he has an AR-15 doesn't mean that it is a bad thing and just because criminals don't follow the rules doesn't mean we all should suffer
