I know this is heli forum but since this is an off topic forum maybe someone here can help me. Here's the my story:
Im a college student and as you know we needed books. Books that cost a lot for a student like me thats why I want to buy books online. I saw this book on ebay, same book as the one we're using in one of my class, but the auction is going to end in 6 days. So what I did is email the seller who has 171 positive feedbacks to ask her if she can sell the book to me offline. She agreed and I paid here through paypal. But after 1 week I haven't receive anything and when I emailed the seller she told me she will check what happened to it on USPS. After a day she told me the book came to my end which ,by the way, is not insured and priority mail sent. I emailed her again asking her to give me her full name and address and the receipt number etc. so I can call or go to USPS and to know what happened to my order. But I didn't get any emails from her up until now. Did this happen to you guys that you lost something that you ordered online using USPS? I've been ordering stuff online for a long time and this is the first time I lost an order.

Yep

USPS is the worst at loosing stuff. I am still "looking" for a money order I sent back east (only 25.00 thankfully) last year. Never made it and it was sent priority mail.
When it really counts send it FEDEX the tracking system is second to none and it will get there.

NEVER NEVER EVER Buy outside of E-bay!

I hope I am wrong on this but some sellers will sell out of an auction once they get the money they just never ship it then relist the item and sell it agine. oh they will tell you that the post office lost it and offer part of a refund or just block your email adress and you won't hear from them agine.

Go back and see if they ended the auction or if they relisted the book.

Like I stated before I hope I am wrong on this but there are a lot of bad people on E-bay with perfect feed back.

penggoy,

Some things to consider are:

Did she really mail the book?

Did she have your proper address on the box?

Did she put a return address on the box?

Was the box packed in such a way where if the address was torn off or missing that there was another address in the box?

When I sold stuff on ebay I looked into this on Paypal becaus I was worried about people paying me and than disputing the charges. According to what I could find out, always ship with delivery confirmation. As long as you could prove the buyer received something, you were good as the seller. So, if you haven't receieved anything or signed for anything, I would inform her that you will be contacting Paypal to reverse the charges. Let her worry about where it is. Until you get something, it's her problem. Also as long as you paid through Paypal with a credit card, you can dispute the charges through them also, sometimes this is actually the easier method.

Good news guys!! I received the book yesterday!!
I called USPS because the mailman just left the package in front of our house and why it took more than two weeks for a priority mail to get here from Virginia to New York. The person I spoke to doesn't have any explanation he just apologized. I just got scared because the seller of the book doesn't email me once I told her that I didn't receive the book I bought. Besides Im ordering stuff from California using USPS too and it usually takes 3-5 days to get here. Lesson learned: Not to use USPS and don't make an offer ebay. And xlr8n thnx for the tip and for those people who replied many thnx

I have shipped over a hundered items using usps the only one that ever went missing was when I returned defective parts to Ace It also was the only item I ever shipped without buying the insurance. I think they do a much better job of making sure of the delivery when you insure the item.

Nope it travels the same way whether you insure or not.

USPS stinks Had Mo's lost in the mail before ( I was selling items, and the Mo's never showed) , had a Projeti foam airplane arrive via priority mail that took a month and a half to arrive with forklift holes both sides of the airplane, just missing the leading edge, etc.... Hate to say it, but I've had much better luck using the big brown trucks.
